Strikes Again

The employees of Kualiti Alam took time off their busy schedules to
participate in a bowling friendly organised by the Kelab Sukan dan
Kebajikan (KESUKA), on 6 April 2013.

The tournament, which aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and instill


the spirit of sportsmanship among employees, witnessed 11 teams
competing for the grand prize. Finally, it was Team Lekiu, from the
Engineering/KAMI Department, who emerged Champions.

The mens category was won by Abdul Karim Omar while Hafizah Mohd
Fozi topped the womens category. Prizes were presented by Sulaiman
bin Kamilan, President of KESUKA.

Another Golden Celebration
at RoSPA Awards 2013

Kualiti Alam and Kualiti Khidmat Alam have once again bagged the
Gold Medal at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards
2013!

This year marks the sixth consecutive time that Kualiti Alam has
clinched this prestigious honour, in recognition of their Occupational
Safety and Health (OSH) practices. This is also the fifth consecutive win
for Kualiti Khidmat Alam since 2009.

The awards were presented in a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham


Metropole Hotel National Exhibition Centre, UK, on 14 May 2013.

Kualiti Khidmat Alam was also the recipient of RoSPAs Gold Award
for Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORR), a recognition it has
received for the third consecutive year since 2011.

David Rawlins, awards manager at RoSPA, said: RoSPA firmly believes


that organisations who demonstrate commitment to continuous
improvement of accident and ill health prevention deserve due
recognition. Kualiti Alam and Kualiti Khidmat Alam have shown that
their commitment to such continuous improvement, and we are
delighted to honour them through the presentation of this award.

Friends of the
UEM Group displayed its strong commitment to the environment
as it signed a Collaboration Note and MoU with the DOE on 5 June
2013, in conjunction with World Environment Day 2013.

Environment Together with its subsidiaries PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS), Cement
Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA) and Kualiti Alam, UEM Group will
be working closely with DOE in implementing nationwide awareness
and environmental education programmes, in addition to encouraging
Rakan Alam Sekitar (RAS) membership.

UEM Group was represented by Nadia Hanafiah, Head of Corporate


Responsibility; PLUS by Dato Noorizah Hj Abdul Hamid, its Managing
Director/Chief Executive Officer; while Kualiti Alam was represented
by Azmanuddin Haq Ahmad, its Managing Director. Also present was
Mohd Yusri Md Yusof, Managing Director of CIMA.

The signing was witnessed by Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit, Deputy


Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.

In his speech, Datuk Dr James said that all Malaysians must work
together to conserve and protect the environment, to further
strengthen the continued conservation and sustainable use of the
environment.

After the event, and to mark this years World Environment Day,
representatives from UEM Group were given the honour of planting
trees at Awana Genting Longhouse, Genting Highlands, as a symbol of
the Groups pledge to the initiative and to the environment.

Launch of the Integrated
Mobile Complaints Counter

Residents of Pokok Sena are now able to seek advice, provide


complaints or feedback regarding public cleansing and solid
waste matters, thanks to the newly established Integrated Mobile
Complaints Counter or Kaunter Aduan Bergerak Bersepadu (KABB).

A collaboration between the Public Complaints Bureau (Biro


Pengaduan Awam) at the Prime Ministers Department and the Pokok
Sena District Office, the Counter was launched on 25 June 2013 by
YB Tuan Haji Bukhari bin Abdullah, Pokok Sena District Officer.
ENVI and EISB were invited to participate in the launch.

Spearheaded by the government, the initiative aims to increase the


quality of life of rural residents. It is also an avenue for ENVI to educate
the public on the scope of work and services provided.
