Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies
10 Beginning the Lesson
Minutes Teacher will greet students.
Teacher will pray for the class.
Teacher will have short introduction with the students. (teacher will ask students
to share their names, their hobbies, and interests).
Teacher will tell the objective.
Opening Activity Rules; have students make a list of rules based on the lesson
like you can: -
- Do this, dont do this.
- Always do your homework.
- Read assigned chapter before class.
- Review lesson at least once a day.

Minutes Developing the Lesson
Teacher will ask students what is literature? If they do not know teacher will
answer the meaning of literature.
- Literature is writing.
What is fiction?
- Something not real, imaginary, and not realistic.
What is nonfiction?
- Something real and it can be informational text
Teacher will as students what is elements of fiction? Let students think first and
share if they know.
- The elements of fiction: plot, setting, character, symbol, point of view, and
theme.
Teacher will ask students why do we read fiction story? Let students think and
share to the class.

Grade Eight

- We read fiction for second hand experience and to be more intelligent. We


read fiction to share a story with others.
Teacher will ask students to read a story (fiction) The Lottery by Shirley
Jackson.
- While they read it, pause and ask them the name of the main characters and
ask them why do you think they are the main character? And why they are
secondary (supporting) character?
Teacher will ask why is it fiction story? Let students think and share it to the class.
Teacher will ask what do you think about this story? What is your observation?
What do you feel?
Teacher will give sometime to students to think about these questions and teacher
will have students answer these questions.

Minutes Closing the Lesson
Closing activity: ask students what happens if we do not follow the rule we
have talked in the beginning of our lesson?
Teacher will ask students to take a slip of paper and ask them to write;
- What is literature?
- What is fiction?
- What is nonfiction?
- Why do we read fiction stories?
Teacher will dismiss the class as soon as the students finish writing the answers.

Formative Assessment Differentiation


Check for understanding. Support students by going around them
Class discussion on what is fiction and and asking them if they need more
nonfiction story. explanation.
