2017-2018 Participate in at least one multicultural competency training per
quarter and engage in activities that promote advocacy and challenge
my worldview and perspective
Attend the national NACADA conference or the regional NASPA
conference to continue to learn and network with peer professionals
Read higher education scholarly books and articles often
Complete 1 informational interview per month across functional areas
at my current institution to develop new connections as an advisor
Engage in service opportunities throughout the year to connect with
the community outside of the institution or within my department

2018-2019 Present at a local educational conference, either NACADA or NASPA


Complete two informational interviews per month with professionals
at other institutions
Maintain relationships with contacts from graduate program
Begin leadership roles in my institutions functional group network
and committees

2019-2020 Reflect on the past two years and perform a self-assessment on


NASPA/ACPA competencies. Reflect on professional development
and action plan and make adjustments as needed
Become published in a journal
Pursue opportunities for supervision and/or advising student groups to
enhance leadership identity

2020-2021 Increase involvement in NACADA, NASPA, or ACPA through the


regional conference or committees
Reach out to mentors to gain information about potential doctorate
programs to further education and conduct research
Research higher level opportunities or opportunities for promotion

2021-2022 Pursue positions that have more responsibility within the institution or
other opportunities at another institution
Reflect on past five years and make another five year professional
development plan
Continue to maintain professional connections and relationships from
networking and LinkedIn
Continue to engage in advocacy and trainings, and stay informed
through books, articles, and current events and research
