6. Teaching/Learning Strategies (the structure here changes depending on the type of lesson - inductive /
deductive, inquiry based, etc). This is the plan of how the time will go / progress.

INTRODUCTION
How will I engage the learners? (e.g., motivational strategy, hook, activation of learners prior knowledge,
activities, procedures, compelling problem)

Who know how to play hacky sack?

Who played before?
Did you know this sport is played all around the world with some variations?
Watch this video to see how high level you can reach with a hacky sack!

MIDDLE:
Teaching: How does the lesson develop?
How we teach new concepts, processes (e.g., gradual release of responsibility - modeled, shared, and
guided instruction).

Dynamic warm up:

Run + touch your knees

Hop on one leg and the other run +your feet touch your bump

2 Yukon Native Teacher Education Program Lesson Plan

Walk touch your inside feet and midway your outside feet

Game
Be the leader
A leader calls a warm up movement (one practice or anyone)
Everybody repeat the movement
The leader calls another leader by throwing the hacky sack to the other person

Teacher teach:
1- Teacher show and chunk
2- Students repeat and catch the footbag after each kick
3- Students try to kick two times in a row. And more and more

*Think about your posture your balance the kick we learned

*Keep the eyes on the hacky sac at all time
*You cant use arms and hands, any other part of the body can be used
*Stay relax while kicking
*Touch the ground between each kick

Knee kick: Throw the ball just above the knee keep your knee flat hit the bag in the centre of
your knee

knee hits. Have the hack in your hand at chest level and release the hack over your intended knee. Try
your best to hit the hack back into your hand. Just hit it once, catch it, steady yourself and try again. Do
this on the same leg. Once you reach a certain number of hits, ten is a good start, switch to your opposite
leg. Then repeat with a different type of hit until you have complete all four basic hits. This is a good
warm up as well
Inside kick: kick the ball with the centre of your foot rotate your knee- you want your foot parallel
to the silling

Gently drop the sack in front of you. Use the inside of the foot, almost directly in the center of your shoe
where the arch of your foot is, to kick the bag directly straight up. Angle your ankle so that the inside of
the foot is parallel to the ceiling. This will ensure that the bag will go directly up and not off to the side. It
helps to bend the other standing leg as well. After one kick, catch the sack in your hand. Repeat dropping,
kicking, and catching until you are consistently kicking the bag straight up. Next, try kicking the bag
using alternating feet and no hands. See how many you can do in a row!

Foot kick: Gently drop the sack in front of you, but at a greater distance than the inside kick. Use the toes
to kick the bag straight up in the air. This kick is similar to the one commonly used to juggle a soccer ball.
You flick your toe in your direction

Outside kick: Gently drop the sack with your arm outstretched to the side, and use the middle of the
outside of the foot to kick the bag. This is harder to do, but remember the tips above angle your ankle to
keep the outside of the foot parallel to the ceiling, and bend the standing leg.

Consolidation and/or Recapitulation Process: How will I bring all the important ideas from the learning
experiences together for/with the students? How will I check for understanding?

In team of two, one toss the hacky and the other try to kick it: three times each one
If they feel confident, they can try to kick instead of making pass

Application: What will learners do to demonstrate their learning? (Moving from guided, scaffolded practice,
and gradual release of responsibility.)

Activity
Hacky tag:
3 persons are hit
To tag they touch somebody
To be free, you wait for somebody
Somebody make a hacky kick and the other repeat the same mouvement.
Or somebody have to toss the hacky to you and you kick it

Activity
Get the hacky
One Loop per team
One hacky per person
The team find a spot for their loop

Steps:
The team try to get the most hacky possible
One person at a time, they run to another loop to get a hacky sac
To come back they had to toss the hacky sac in the air and catch it until they reach their loop
On the second run, they change partner

Activity
Mini pot
With your partner
You try to kick your hacky with one of the kick learned in the less amount of kick into the loop
Once you finish one, you do the next one
Going clockwise

Activity
Balance
Students walk in the gym with their hacky balanced on one part of their body
The teacher called different part of their body
Head, shoulder, top hand, knee, feet, neck, inside knee
Walk, turn, side step
The students walk around the loops
