Title of Lesson: Forces and Motion Video Reflections Name:

Kimberly Conner
School: Waverly-Shell Rock Date: March 10,
2017
Grade: 10th Position:
Student Teacher
Enrichment/Extension/Modification/Differentiation:
Linguistic, visual, and interpersonal learners- review at the beginning of class
o Students watched six other videos yesterday and were to reflect on their own video
What went well
What am I going to change
Bodily Kinesthetic learners- students created their own mousetrap cars last week and are now
creating a how to video over the physics concepts we have been discussing in class
o Recorded data and made modifications
Intrapersonal learners- each student has their science notebook where they will record their
reflections over their own videos
Materials:

125 science notebooks

125 chrome books (students all have their own school computer)
Projector
Forces presentation (PowerPoint) for daily directions
Standards:
HS PS2-1: Analyze data to support the claim that Newtons second law of motion describes the
mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration.
HS PS2-2: Use mathematical representations to support the claim that the total momentum of a system
of objects is conserved when there is no net force on the system.
HS PS2-3: Apply scientific and engineering ideas to design, evaluate, and refine a device that minimizes
the force on a macroscopic object during a collision.
Objective: Once the students have completed the lesson over forces and motion, 75% of tenth-grade
physical science students will be able to:

Choose any of Newtons Three Laws and describe them with 85% accuracy (cognitive)
o This includes calculating force, impulse, and momentum
Understand and appreciate the importance of gravity in our lives and gives three examples of
connections from Physics of Superheroes and tie it the their mousetrap car project (affective)
Create their own mousetrap car and explain how it provides evidence of Newtons Three Laws of
Motion along with Impulse and Momentum with 80 % accuracy (psychomotor)
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to wrap up an entire unit over forces and motion. The students
have designed, built, revised, and are now reflection on their own mousetrap cars performance based on
what they have learned about physics.
Anticipatory Set: Describe the importance of feedback on the students videos
Walk students through the importance of the feedback from their peers over their how to videos
from yesterday
The students will use this information to modify their videos and resubmit them before school on
Monday
Modeling:
Demonstrate how the students can search through the discussion forum on Canvas to find the
feedback about their specific how to video
Check for understanding:
Thumbs up or down to check if the students understood their final task for the day/unit
o Go back and clarify anything that was confusing or misunderstood before setting students
loose to look through their feedback and start making changes.
Guided Instruction:

Walk students through a good example of how to incorporate specific feedback into their videos
Check for understanding:
Constantly wander around the room to answer questions and monitor student behavior during their
worktime
Independent Practice:
The independent practice for this lesson comes into play when each student has their own science
notebook
o They are to be writing down their own reflections about their video based on the feedback they
received from their peers, as well as any changes they make for their final turned in video
Closure:
Remind students before they leave that their final how to videos are due before school starts
Monday morning (3/13)
o Mrs. Borglum will begin grading them at the start of first period
Assessment:
Students final videos will be assessed based on the following rubric:

BONUS 30 25 22 19 15
