Assignment 4: Attachment and Emotional Development

Before I continue to answer the essay prompt, I have noticed that the majority of the

infant A classroom are content babies. Each child can self-entertain themselves by the time they

have reached four to five months. I feel this is an important note because it shows the

relationship between care-teachers and the infants. Because the youngsters are so easily settled in

the classroom, it is obvious they feel safe and cared for. Ms. Loretta has seemed to really create a

caregiving relationship with all of the infants because when one is in distress, she has the most

patience and knowledge when trying to soothe them. She is very responsive to particular cries

and sounds that indicate that an infant is hungry, needs to be changed, or is in search of comfort.

There is a new baby in the infant A classroom, and Ms. Loretta has been working with the child

to find out how to adapt to the childs needs. Ms. Loretta also speaks regularly with the family

and has learned that the 3-month-old likes to be held almost in a superman position. Today, Ms.

Loretta noticed the babies distress and worked to calm the child. As soon as Ms. Loretta flipped

the child onto her stomach and swayed her back and forth, the child instant became at ease.

Together they are developing their relationship together. Slowly the little girl has developed an

attachment to Ms. Loretta by recognizing her as a source of care and comfort. By developing this

relationship with all of the infants, Ms. Loretta is catering to their needs while comforting them.

This allows for the infants to be confident in their relationship with her, they are able to trust that
Ms. Loretta will feed them, change them, and love on them. When a child is in a happy state of

mind, they are able to grow, develop and experience the world around them.
