Motion, Momentum, Forces, and Newtons Laws

Day 1: Goal: Describe motion, distance and displacement.


Activity: Listen to Power Point presentation over Chapter 18
Motion and Momentum. Complete the note journal in your
folder behind divider 3. Make sure you copy all terms and
definitions, concept maps, diagrams, tables and graphs in
your folder.
Day 2: Goal: Describe speed, instantaneous speed, average speed
and constant speed and acceleration.
Activity: Students will continue with Power Point
presentation as they follow along in the book and complete
the note journal over Motion and Momentum.
Day 3: Goal: Relate motion, speed, acceleration, velocity
and displacement.
Activity: Finish note journal. Students will learn about their
motion Poster Project. Students will complete fill in the
blank note outline in their folder behind section 3..
Day 4: Goal: Understand the use of reference points when
determining motion.
Activity: Students will complete worksheet Observing
Motion Questions in their folder behind divider 3. They
will use the round table cooperative learning strategy.
Day 5: Goal: Measure motion of hot wheels using Avg
Speed= D/T
Activity: Students will complete Measuring Motion Activity
with the use of hot wheels. Students will record data,
answer analysis questions and graph data in their folders
behind divider 4.
Day 6: Goal: Understand the role of mass in relation to
momentum.
Activity: Students will answer Momentum Questions
worksheet in their folders behind divider 3. The students
will use the numbered heads cooperative learning strategy.
Day 7: Goal: Explain the law of conservation of momentum.
Activity: Students will complete the Conserving Momentum
activity in their folders behind divider 4.
Day 8: Goal: Understand the relationship between inertia,
momentum and velocity.
Activity: Students will complete Ch. 18 Sec. 2
Reinforcement worksheet for review. Answers will be
written behind the 3rd divider in the students folder.
Students will use the jigsaw cooperative learning strategy.
Day 9: Goal: Understand Newtons 1st law of Motion
Activity: Students will begin presentation from Power Point
over Newtons 1st law of motion. Students will complete all
definitions, tables, charts, graphs, & concept maps in their
folders behind divider 3.
Day 10: Goal: understand Newtons 2nd and 3rd laws of motion
Activity: Students will finish the Power Point presentation
over chapter 19. They will complete the note journal by
answering all prompts in their folders behind divider 3.
Day 11: Goal: Review Newtons Laws of Motion
Activity: Students will fill in the blanks of Chapter 19 note
out line in their folders behind divider 3. Students will use
the response chips cooperative learning strategy.
Day 12: Goal: Apply Newtons 1st Law of Motion
Activity: Students will complete Newtons First Law of
Motion vocabulary review crossword puzzle.
Day 13: Goal: Understand Newtons first law of motion (Law of
Inertia)
Activity: Students will answer the Inertia Questions
Worksheet in their folders behind divider 3.
Day 14: Goal: What effect does mass have on the inertia of an
object?
Activity: Students will conduct the Inertia activity. Students
will record, chart and graph their data in their folders
behind divider 4.
Day 15: Goal: To be able to understand and discuss Newtons 2nd
Law, force, impulse, and momentum. To understand how
these concepts apply to sports, such as football.
Activity: Students will demonstrate Newtons 2nd Law and
will graph motion behind divider 4 in their folders.
Students will also watch a simulation video before they
participate in the investigation.
Day 16: Goal: Test Newtons 3rd Law of motion and observe forces
working in pairs.
Activity: Students will conduct Newtons Third Law Activity
(Balloon Cars). All data will be recorded in their folders
behind divider 4.
Day 17 Goal: Test Newtons 3rd Law of motion and observe forces
working in pairs.
Activity: Finish Balloon Cars activity.
Day 18 Review
Day 19 Semester Final
