Why did you choose these strategies/methods?

I chose these strategies and methods so the students are constantly engaged in their
learning and can manipulate the activity in order to learn the concept.
How will you group students for instruction?

The class size is about 10 students (if no one is absent), I will be putting the students into
two groups of five. I will be grouping students based on who I know works well together
and separating the students who normally distract each other.

List below your activities/steps including 1. HOW you activate background knowledge,
2. GAIN student attention (set induction), 3. DEMONSTRATE processes and desired
outcomes (a. modeling, b. guided practice, c. independent practice), and 4. BRING
closure to the lesson. Finally, 5. ARTICULATE how you will evaluate your
lesson/determine if student learning occurred. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE
EACH OF THESE FIVE COMPONENTS IN THE ACTIVITIES/STEPS OF YOUR
LESSON.
Activity/Step Time Allocated
(Explain each step)

1. How you activate background

knowledge.

I will activate background knowledge by 2 minutes

asking the students to tell me about their
favorite story and the different parts of that
story.

2. Gain student attention.

I will gain students attention by having

them watch a video that sings about the Wh 1 minute and 39 seconds.
questions.

3. Demonstrate ..
a. modeling.
I will demonstrate answering the Wh
questions throughout a Prezi presentation. 15 minutes
In the presentation we will discuss each
Wh question and how that will look in a
sentence.

b. guided practice..
I will conduct a guided practice by looking
at three different sentences and having the 8 minutes
students point out the Wh questions within
a sentence.

c. independent practice..
For independent practice, the students will
get into their groups and roll dice to form 15 minutes
sentences. After they roll the dice they will
write a sentence based on the sides they
rolled.

4. Bring closure to lesson

I will bring closer to the lesson by bringing 5 minutes

the students back to the carpet and
discussing the Wh- questions.
5. Articulate how you will evaluate how
learning has occurred..

I will be assessing that learning has

occurred by having a closing discussion on 5 minutes
the lesson. Also, by collecting the students
worksheets.

Note: Please complete these questions AFTER your debrief with your Supervisor,
and email them with your responses back to your Supervisor within 48 hours of
your observation.

1. To what extent did students learn what you intended? How do you know?

2. Did you do anything differently than what you planned? If so, why?

3. If you were going to teach this lesson again to the same students, what would you do
the same? Differently?

4. How much time did you actually use? Were transitions smooth?
5. Identify a group or individual who did well with the lesson. How do you account for
this? What might you do in the future to ensure their continued success?

6. Identify a group or individual who had difficulty with this lesson. How do you account
for this? What interventions could you use so that they achieve the learning goals?
