About Education Development Centre ''Planet''

Education Development Centre Planet is an association for development of education and promotion of
science, which is done through the activation of children and the young through programmes and projects which
develop creativity, critical thinking, scientific conscience, ecological conscience, social skills and responsibility.
Members of our association are teachers who work in primary and secondary schools, as well as other experts
who work with children and the young. In our organization we make decisions as a team, on our meetings. In
our organization constantly work 10 young people and adults who are active on implementing programmes. Our
professional circle is made of a great number of friends and colleagues who are willing to take part in our
activities and contribute to our idea non-formal education, active learning, personality development with
children and the young and their right direction. We have a basis of more than 50 volunteers (15 30 year olds)
who are engaged in our programmes Fizi Bizi Fest and Childrens science club (DNK).
As long as our organization exists, we established a great cooperation with different organizations in local
community: local government, school administration, elemetary and high schools, NGO, Youth office, media,
etc. We also have active cooperation with all primary and secondary schools in Sombor as well as with
Pedagogic faculty and special school Vuk Karadzic. Also through our programme Fizi Bizi Fest we cooperate
with some faculties and institutions from Belgrade and Novi Sad. Our main target groups are children and
youth. Because of that our plan is to become a part of three networks: MODS (Network of organizations for the
children of Serbia), KOMS (Network of organization for the young of Serbia) and NAPOR (National
assotiation of practitioners of youth work). We use premises of two primary schools in Sombor, and of
Grammar School Veljko Petrovic Sombor (also a partner in this project). We have qualified human resources,
particularly youth workers, youth leaders, teachers, who actively participate in our programmes, as well as
associates in school administration and NGO sector.

We emphasize the following projects that we have implemented or are currently implementing

a summer school for children with its main aim to develop love for science and research of the world
around us.

Project Climate, my planet and I

the main goal of which was to raise awareness of climate changes, global warming, their cause and
consequences. Through a number of activities, such as workshops, watching a movie, quizzes, the pupils
of these two schools had a chance to learn together and develop some ecological habits.

Project Steps without borders

the main idea was to connect teaching of biology, ecology, physics, IT and PE. The aim of the project
was to raise awareness of the importance of ecology and to pursue children to do physical activity as
much as possible, instead of spending their time in front of tv or computer.

Project Science festival Fizi Bizi I choose science, I choose a profession
The aim of the project was to develop investigative spirit and love for science among young people
Main target group: young people, children, teachers
Partnership: all elementary school from Sombor (5 of them), all high schools from Sombor (6 of them),
Sombor pedagogic faculty, City Administration of the city of Sombor
Donors: city of Sombor, Center for promotion of science in Serbia
The total of 394 children and the young took part in these festivals; there were 60 young volunteers, 20
speakers, 56 teachers/mentors, and several thousand visitors.

-Popular Science lectures on Fizi Bizi Science festival, november 2016-
Four school science festival Fizi Bizi Fest in the period 2011-2014. which goal was to promote science among children
and young people. They were visited by hundreds of children and young people. Festivals were realized in the premises

The project "Get Planet Wised, save the planet' began in March 2017. The aim of the project is to develop
environmental awareness and environmental responsibility, and encourage children with and without
disabilities, to spend more time in nature, be physically active and thus care about their health. We hope that,
during recreational walks and various types of activities in the nature (environmental, sport, creative
workshops), we will develop environmental awareness among children, in their earlier age, and learn them to
behave responsibly towards nature. Such behavior will become a habit, ie. more sustainable and of
immeasurable importance for the environment, and therefore for themselves.
Therefore, through the implementation of projects we:
developing environmental awareness and responsible behavior towards nature,
with specific actions we are contributing to the improvement of the environmen
encourage the inclusion ie. working together and socializing children with and without disabilities and
children without parental care
encourage physical activity among children and develop their work habits, develop activist spirit, social
responsibility and community.
