Flock of Doves

Once upon a time, there was a flock of doves that flew in search of food led
by their king. They had flown a long distance and were very tired. The smallest
dove picked up speed and found some rice scattered beneath a banyan tree. So
all the doves landed and began to eat.

Suddenly a net fell over them and they were all trapped. They saw a hunter
approaching carrying. The doves desperately fluttered their wings trying to get
out, but to no avail. The king had an idea. He advised all the doves to fly up
together carrying the net with them.

Each dove picked up a portion of the net and together they flew off carrying
the net with them. The hunter looked up in astonishment. He tried to follow
them, but they were flying high over hills and valleys. They flew to a hill near a
city of temples where there lived a mouse who could help them. He was a
faithful friend of the dove king.

The mouse agreed saying that he would set the king free first. The king
insisted that he first free his subjects and the king last. The mouse understood
the kings feelings and complied with his wishes. He began to cut the net and
one by one all the doves were freed including the dove king.

THE REPORT
So,the message that I got from the story of flock of doves is, if individually
we are weak,so we should to unite to solve the problem and it also make us
stronger, like the doves that picked up a portion of the net and together they
flew off carrying the net with them and all the doves were freed including the
dove king.
TIMUN EMAS
Long time ago in the island of Java, Indonesia, lived a couple of farmer. They
had married for some years but they had no children. So they prayed to a
monster called Buta Ijo to give them children. Buta Ijo was a ferocious and
powerful monster. He granted their wish on one condition. When their children
had grown up, they had to sacrifice them to Buta Ijo. He liked eating fresh meat
of human being. The farmers agreed to his condition. Several months later the
wife was pregnant.

She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Timun Emas. The
farmers were happy. Timun Emas was very healthy and a very smart girl. She
was also very diligent. When she was a teenager Buta Ijo came to their house.
Timun Emas was frightened so she ran away to hide. The farmers then told Buta
Ijo that Timun Emas was still a child. They asked him to postpone. Buta Ijo
agreed. He promised to come again. The following year Buta Ijo came again.
But again and again their parents said that Timun Emas was still a child.

When the third time Buta Ijo came their parents had prepared something for
him. They gave Timun Emas several bamboo needles, seeds of cucumber,
dressing and salt.

Timun, take these things

What are these things? These are your weapons. Buta Ijo will chase you. He
will eat you alive. So run as fast as you can. And if he will catch you spread this
to the ground. Now go!

Timun Emas was scared so she ran as quickly as she could. When Buta Ijo
arrived she was far from home. He was very angry when he realized that his
prey had left. So he ran to chase her. He had a sharp nose so he knew what
direction his prey ran.

Timun Emas was just a girl while Buta Ijo was a monster so he could easily
catch her up. When he was just several steps behind Timun Emas quickly spread
the seeds of cucumber. In seconds they turned into many vines of cucumber.
The exhausted Buta Ijo was very thirsty so he grabbed and ate them. When Buta
Ijo was busy eating cucumber Timun Emas could run away.

But soon Buta Ijo realized and started running again. When he was just
several steps behind Timun Emas threw her bamboo needles. Soon they turned
into dense bamboo trees. Buta Ijo found it hard to pass. It took him some time to
break the dense bamboo forest. Meanwhile Timun Emas could run farther.

Buta Ijo chased her again. When he almost catch her again and again Timun
Emas threw her dressing. This time it turned into a lake. Buta Ijo was busy to
save himself so Timun Emas ran way. But Buta Ijo could overcome it and
continued chasing her.

Finally when Timun Emas was almost caught she threw her salt. Soon the
land where Buta Ijo stood turned into ocean. Buta Ijo was drowned and died
instantly. Timun Emas was thankful to god and came back to her home.

THE REPORT

So,the message that I got from Timun emas story is we should always pray
and do the efforts to reach our wish and never give up. As we knew from the
story, the parents of Timun Mas want a baby with instant way. They prayed to a
monster that called Buto Ijo and when Timun emas was a teenager,Buto Ijo
came and want to eat Timun Mas. Timun emas never give up to the Buto ijo and
finally Timun emas was safe and back to her home.
SURABAYA
A long time ago in East Java there were two strong animals, Sura and Baya.
Sura was a shark and Baya was a crocodile. They lived in a sea. Actually, they
were friends. But when they were hungry, they were very greedy. They did not
want to share their food. They would fight for it and never stop fighting until
one of them gave up.

It was a very hot day. Sura and Baya were looking for some food. Suddenly,
Baya saw a goat. Yummy, this is my lunch, said Baya.

No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy! I had not eaten for two days!
said Sura.

Then Sura and Baya fought again. After several hours, they were very tired.
Sura had a plan to stop their bad behavior.

Im tired of fighting, Baya, said Sura.

Me too. What should we do to stop fighting? Do you have any idea? asked
Baya.

Yes, I do. Lets share our territory. I live in the water, so I look for food in the
sea. And you live on the land, right? So, you look for the food also on the land.
The border is the beach, so we will never meet again. Do you agree? asked
Sura.

Hmm... let me think about it. OK, I agree. From today, I will never go to the
sea again. My place is on the land, said Baya.

Then they both lived in the different places. But one day, Sura went to the
land and looked for some food in the river. He was very hungry and there was
not much food in the sea. Baya was very angry when he knew that Sura broke
the promise.

Hey, what are you doing here? This is my place. Your place is in the sea!

But, there is water in the river, right? So, this is also my place! said Sura.
Then Sura and Baya fought again. They both hit each other. Sura bit Baya's
tail. Baya did the same thing to Sura. He bit very hard until Sura finally gave
up. He went back to the sea. Baya was very happy. He had his place again.

The place where they were fighting was a mess. Blood was everywhere.
People then always talked about the fight between Sura and Baya. They then
named the place of the fight as Surabaya, its from Sura the shark and Baya the
crocodile. People also put their fight as the symbol of Surabaya city.

THE REPORT

So,the message that I got from Surabaya story is dont be broke the promise
that youve been make and dont be greedy. As we knew from the story above,
Sura and Baya make promise about their territory. Sura was in the sea and Baya
is on the land, but Sura broke the promise and looked the food in the river.
Finally they fought again and Baya had his place again.
MALIN KUNDANG

Long time ago, in a small village near the beach in West Sumatera, lived a
woman and her son, named Malin Kundang. Malin Kundang's father had passed
away when he was a baby, and he had to live hard with his mother.

Malin Kundang was a healthy, diligent, and strong child. He usually went to
the sea to catch fish, and brought it to his mother, or sold it in the town.

One day, when Malin Kundang was sailing as usual, he saw a merchant's ship
which was being raided by a small band of pirates. With his brave and power,
Malin Kundang defeated the pirates. The merchant was so happy and asked
Malin Kundang to sail with him. Malin Kundang agreed.

Many years later, Malin Kundang became a wealthy merchant, with a huge
ship, loads of trading goods, many ship crews, and a beautiful wife. In his
journey, his ship landed on a beach. The villagers recognized him, and the news
ran fast in the town: Malin Kundang became a rich man and now he is here. His
mother, in sadness after years of loneliness, ran to the beach to meet her beloved
son again.

When the mother came, Malin Kundang, in front of his well dressed wife, his
crews and his own glory, denied to meet that old, poor and dirty woman. For
three times she begged Malin Kundang and for three times yelled at him. At last
Malin Kundang said to her "Enough, old woman! I have never had a mother like
you, a dirty and ugly peasant!" Then he ordered his crews to set sail.

Enraged, she cursed Malin Kundang that he would turn into a stone if he
didn't apologize. Malin Kundang just laughed and set sail.

In the quiet sea, suddenly a thunderstorm came. His huge ship was wrecked
and it was too late for Malin Kundang to apologize. He was thrown by the wave
out of his ship, fell on a small island, and suddenly turned into stone.
THE REPORT

the message that I got from Malin Kundang story is dont rebellious with our
parents, especially mother because she was give birth for us. In the story above,
Malin Kundang became a rich man,had beautiful wife and be arrogant. When
his mother came to saw him,Malin Kundang humiliated his mother, his mother
prayed and after that he was thrown by the wave out of his ship, fell on a small
island, and suddenly turned into stone.
THE SMARTEST PARROT

Once upon time, a man had a wonderful parrot. There was no other parrot
like it. The parrot could say every word, except one word. The parrot would not
say the name of the place where it was born. The name of the place was Catano.

The man felt excited having the smartest parrot but he could not understand
why the parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say
Catano however the bird kept not saying the word.

At the first, the man was very nice to the bird but then he got very angry.
You stupid bird! pointed the man to the parrot. Why cant you say the word?
Say Catano! Or I will kill you the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to
teach, the parrot would not say it. Then the man got so angry and shouted to the
bird over and over; Say Catano or Ill kill you. The bird kept not to say the
word of Catano.

One day, after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano,
the man really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and
threw it into the chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner
You are as stupid as the chickens. Just stay with them Said the man angrily.
Then he continued to humble; You know, I will cut the chicken for my meal.
Next it will be your turn, I will eat you too, stupid parrot. After that he left the
chicken house.

The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door
and was very surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house.
There were three death chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was
standing proudly and screaming at the last old chicken; Say Catano or Ill kill
you.

THE REPORT

The message that I got from the smartest parrot story is dont force what we
want to other people. In the story above, the man who had smart parrot want his
bird say catano words, but his bird cant say that and he got angry to the bird
and say Say Catano,or Ill kill you! and picked the parrot into chicken house.
But when the man back to the chicken house,he was surprised because the
parrot killed three chickens and screaming at the last old chicken; Say Catano
or Ill kill you like the man always say.
A Wise Old Owl

There was an old owl that lived in an oak. Everyday he saw incidents
happening around him. Yesterday he saw a boy helping an old man to carry a
heavy basket. Today he saw a girl shouting at her mother. The more he saw the
less he spoke.

As he spoke less, he heard more. He heard people talking and telling stories.
He heard a woman saying that an elephant jumped over a fence. He also heard a
man saying that he had never made a mistake.

The old owl had seen and heard about what happened to people. Some
became better and some became worse. But the old owl had become wiser each
and every day.
