Question 1
The writer makes his first assumption by saying that South Africa Is Governed by
prodigies of the same historical patriots that had stood for the rights of South
Africans in the past and the ruling Government should focus more on the
improvement of the state by allowing foreign investors in South Africa in order to
trade more effectively with other countries. The writers second assumption is by
saying that the ruling party should focus more on the promotion of a united state
rather than the use of armed forces in order to establish a sense of fear within the
community. He adds by saying that a democratic and united society would
improve South Africa and save the new Government from committing the same
mistakes that were committed by our Colonies.

Question 2
Yes I agree, we are a community of many cultural groups and 23 years after
democracy has given us enough time to heal and improve. He also uses examples
of the past differences that South Africa has had to experience as a community.
The ruling parties of South Africa have been able to show that we as a community
of many cultures can strive for the uplifting and the promotion of our country.

Question 3
The writer shows a positive attitude by saying, Archbishop Tutus mythical
rainbow nation is, thus, a brave attempt to make a virtue out of necessity. As
such, it can, in my opinion, be abused to fix forever the sense of colour or race
that divides one group of people from another. Of course, the man at the bishops
court never intended that we should become a nation of hyphenated South
Africans, where the word in front of the hyphen is always a racial epithet such as
Black, White, Coloured or Indian.

Question 4
Once there is that combination of multiple European races there is that clich
South African act through which no dividing barrier can be identified. A united
South Africa is not a result of an occult mystery nor is it the prediction of a genius,
thus makes it clear that it will take much longer to obtain. A democratic and
united South Africa is what is needed in order to tackle and overcome obstacles
which the community has to face when standing united, because this is the only
way we can expect a better future for our country. If the vision of a democratic
and united South Africa can be accomplished, the eradication of poverty and the
improvement of the society will result. Through a united South Africa, the
accomplishment of a better country will be obtained and it is through the
achievement of democracy that South Africa will find closure to the experiences
of the past.

Question 5
Yes, it is appropriate, because the writer intends to problematize the concept of
nation building by analyzing the history of the country as well as certain actions
the ruling government has taken in order to show the improvement of the nation
concerning democracy. He also identifies the acts of the liberation movement
that have been ignorant of the international legalities of the state. The writer also
analyzed the historical reality of interdependent groups of people who were
integrated into economic, specifically the labour processes of the evolving
capitalist system and how we as a community cannot do without each other as a
united nation.
