Class being taught: CORE class C

Pre-Assessment Materials
Students have read four books during this block and have been assigned to Scoring Rubric
prepare an oral book report the last week of CORE. Health Debate Instructions

Course Objective
1) Write three well organized paragraphs
2) Learn and use vocabulary needed for specific types of situations
including role playing
a. Vocabulary will come from the books being read as well as from
worksheets prepared by the teachers
3) Learn and use vocabulary for debating, narrating, and persuading
4) Practice and use simple past, simple future, present perfect, and
subject-verb agreement

Lesson Objective(s) The students will be able to


1. Deliver a 4-7 minute oral book report.
2. Ask questions and make comments on the oral presentations.
3. Will defend their opinions with facts in a health-related debate.

Prayer and scripture by student: end by 4:25pm
Talk about American Pronunciation App- Student will explain: End by 4:30
Begin oral presentations
o 5 students will present. 4-7 minutes each with commentary after each presentation. End by 5:05
Organize debate: End by 5:20
o Students will be split into two groups and will be given a topic to debate.
Summary: End by 5:25
o Talk about what we studied during the past five weeks.
o Give cookies to students.
Assignment/Practice Philosophical Justification
Scoring rubric We chose the oral book report to promote speaking fluency and
accuracy. It also serves as a way to allow students to demonstrate
their knowledge of the stories they have read.
The debate gives the students the opportunity to defend their ideas
and use vocabulary related to health.
