Table Talk - Inclusion Activity

What are some of
the core elements
of unit planning?
What are some
areas of strength
you bring to
planning?
March 20, 2017

Today's goal:
To understand the main elements of UbD

Understandings:
* What are the big ideas of UbD?
* How does it differ from traditional lesson
planning?
* How does UbD benefit both teachers
and students?
March 20, 2017

Why UbD training?

To develop our understanding of UBD as a
framework in order to create greater clarity,
collaboration and consistency in our unit
design. UbD can raise the standard of unit
planning while reaching the end goal of
better learning for students.

If your students
remember only one
thing from your last
unit of study, what
would you hope it
would be?

The Understanding by Design framework offers a

planning process and structure to guide
curriculum, assessment, and instruction. Its two key
ideas are contained in the title:

1) focus on teaching and assessing for

understanding and learning transfer

2) design curriculum backward from those ends

*Your assessment idea may change over time.

*Consider how your assessment allows students
to show their understanding of the big ideas.
March 20, 2017

**This is the place to list your activity ideas. There is no need for
detailed lesson plans in your unit planner.
**As you move through your unit, choose activities that match the
students' progress or add new idea
**Collaborate with your team as activities are chosen

examine the text and then jigsaw learning OE = Other Evidence
L = Learning Plan
OR choose one stage and discuss

How does your current planning reflect the Stages?
