High Quality Communications

• Voice Quality better than landline phones

Multi-sensory
The device works with the sense of smell, sight, hearing
and touch. The user experiences communication on a
multi-sensory level. It can detect, transmit and emit smell.
It can also radiate colours, light and temperature from a
caller's environment.

Regenerate
It collects information on how much electricity and gas you
use. It can work on a reward system and you can earn free
calls and texts by being environmentally friendly, like walking
to work instead of driving.
Looking ahead
Hello

People constantly upgrade mobiles and discard their old

ones. In the future new mobiles will have to exist
alongside older models that have become redundant in
their primary role.
This project proposes an afterlife for them, using
secondary functions like the camera.
Broadband Growth

• Mobile BB includes: CDMA, EvDo, HSPA, LTE, Mobile WiMAX

• Fixed BB includes: DSL, FTTH, cable modem
Technical Objectives
Requirements Technical Objectives
High-speed transmission - 100s Mbps for downlink

High-capacity - >10 fold increase in 3G

Congestion control / Wireless QoS - When congestion occurs, speed for each
terminal is controlled to maintain connection
- Differentiated priority service.

Good mobility - Supporting high-speed mobility.

- Wide-range variable rate transmission is
essential to extend coverage to indoor areas
and to establish smooth handover to indoor
systems
Practical Realities

Technologies:

2G 9.6 kbps
2.5 G 20 kbps
2.75 G 59.2 kbps
3G
Basic 2 Mbps
HSPA 7.2Mbps
LTE 326 Mbps (theoretical, 3GPP)

Early OFDMA based trial results: > 300 Mbps
