8 IN CONCLUSION
Dear Student
This is the last tutorial letter for 2014. I hope that you have enjoyed the course. In this tutorial letter I
provide feedback on the group discussion classes. You will also receive some guidelines to help you
prepare for the examination.
Students did not have any difficulty in answering the assignments and I was impressed with the quality
of the answers. I provided feedback to those students who needed it.
The Department of Education requires the university to prove that a student was active during the
period of tuition for the student to qualify for a subsidy from the Department of Education. Senate
requires students to submit a compulsory assignment, firstly to prove activity and secondly to qualify for
admission to the examination. Assignment 01 is therefore compulsory.
You are reminded that assignment 02 contributes 20% to your final examination mark.
The paper is worth a total of 100 marks. The paper consists of six compulsory questions:

example:
6 EXAMINATION PREPARATION
Make sure that you study the following for the examination:
7 PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS
Start studying well in advance. Dont leave things to the last minute.
Make sure that your environment promotes rather than hampers learning. The place where you
study should be quiet - try to avoid noise and disturbances.
Study your work so that you understand what you have learnt. Dont simply memorise your
notes.
3
Regularly revise the work that youve already covered.
Try to get enough sleep so that youre not physically exhausted when you have to study or write
the examination.
Be calm and relaxed. To be calm you need to be properly prepared and to get to the examination
venue on time. A student who has to rush to be on time cannot possibly be calm.
Read through the questions carefully and underline the key words, so that youre sure you
understand whats expected of you. Even if you take ten minutes to read through the paper, you
havent wasted that time.
Do not allow yourself to get confused by a question that is formulated differently from what you
expected. Questions are sometimes formulated differently so that you have to think about your
answer.
8 IN CONCLUSION
Good luck with your preparation. Dont hesitate to contact me if you experience any problems with your
studies.
