On the Relationship Between Students Perceptions of Teaching Quality, Methods of
Assessment, and Satisfaction.
Summary: This article talks about the study to extend the assessment and evaluation of students performance. First, they investigated and captured qualitatively and quantitatively how students perceive teaching quality. Second they examined their reaction towards the different types of assessment used in class. It also talked about Assessment Methods, student peer-evaluation, student self-evaluation and the importance of student satisfaction and its relation to quality. First, Assessment Methods determines how well the student do in class, this could be an overall grade measure to complete the course or an evaluation at the end of the specific project or activity. Second, Student peer-evaluation is letting the student be graded by other students in the class he is in. Third, Student self-evaluation is letting the students assess themselves, estimate how much they know or have learned, and estimate the quality of their own work, based on evidence and explicit criteria, for the purpose of doing better work in the future. Lastly, student satisfaction, satisfaction is very strong and this is the time where students can improve. Reflection: Through this article, I realized that students understanding of teaching is also important to make them interested in the lesson and be a more effective teacher because if a teacher and a student have the same perceptions about teaching they will understand each other more during class. If students are concerned about the learning activities and assessments used in class it will help them interact more and it also reshapes the students. Satisfaction of the students and the quality of teaching is also important. If the teacher teaches well (which talks about the quality of teaching) it will be easier for the students to understand what the lesson is about (which talks about the satisfaction of the student) and it will have a good result and effect for both sides because the teacher becomes a better teacher for trying his or her best to be effective, the same with the student because it satisfies his or her needs to learn and discover new things. And doing those given examples above on how to assess your student will also help them build their self-confidence, also making the students satisfied with the quality of education will make them more interested and active in the class. So, as a future teacher I must know how to assess and satisfy my students need when it comes to education.
