North Preston Minor Basketball Association

Presents
Nevell Provo Basketball Camp Funding Request
To Whom It Concern:

My name is Nevell Provo, from North Preston, NS. I am a second year finance student,
playing NCAA Division 1 Basketball at Loyola University Maryland. I am a two time honor roll
student and a member of Deans list, as well as a Patriot League all-academic. I was a member
of the Canadas Mens Junior National team from 2013-2015, we won a silver medal in FIBA
Americas, Colorado Springs, USA, and finished 5th in the U19 World Championships in Greece.
Ive played on nationally ranked prep schools and top tier travel teams alongside many NBA
players. I am also currently an Ambassador for NS Kidsport foundation.
With all of these accomplishments I dont think any of them hold as much value as my
time spent with youth. I am a proud Nova Scotian, who was born and raised in North Preston. At
the age of 13 yrs, along with my family, we decided I would move to Ontario and then to the
United Stated to pursue my basketball aspirations. Ive experienced a tremendous amount, met
some inspirational people and have learned some critical life lessons. I feel it is essential for me
to share my insight with youth and help them grasp some of the opportunities Ive had as well as
share the insight of my sacrifices.
With all that being said I have put together a plan to host a basketball camp scheduled
for June 27-28. The camp will host 40-50 participants. They will be selected for their work ethic,
performance in school and on the court, leadership skills etc. This will be a two day event at
Citadel High School, in Halifax. We have some prestigious camp leaders and trainers who will
be participating. First round draft pick and Rookie of the year Andrew Wiggins, is a good
friend/former teammate of mine, he will be a guest speaker/camp leader. Andre is a great
example of what it takes to play at the next level, an experienced voice, and an overall
inspiration. Vlad Mateski, founder of Real Basketball Training, one of the most prominent
training platforms in Canada; based out of Toronto, will be the head trainer of the camp. He will
be able to teach participants proper technique and tools they will need to get to the next level.
Vlad has worked with countless NBA players, and knows exactly what it takes. Nova Scotia
native, Christopher Johnson a predominant professional basketball player in Portugal will also
bring his expertise as a camp leader as well as many other prominent basketball people and
coaches in Nova Scotia.
The focus on this endeavor is to be more than just a basketball camp. Our goal is to
implant valuable lifelong experiences, provide mentorship, and to install in them care and belief.
Along, with the notable basketball influences mentioned, we want other NS community leaders
and entrepreneurs to be a part of this to bring messages to the participants.
This camp will be organized more like a conference which may be something NS
athletes have never experienced. The participants will spend two nights at a nearby hotel along
with the camp leaders. This will able them to develop personal relationships with each other.
There will be on-court and classroom sessions where they will receive information on the
importance of academics, goal settings, avoiding distractions, etc. This experience is aimed to
give them a spark and a sense of self worth to pursue their dreams and become positive
influences in or community at large. To make this all complete, we want this experience to be
FREE to the participants.
As you know an event such as this comes with many expenses. We have worked out a
budget of $10,000. Expenses will include but not limited to airline travel, trainers expenses,
hotel costs (2 nights for 40-50 participants), food, equipment, jerseys, vehicle rentals, misc
expenses. This camp will bring prestige and garner lots of media attention, not only to Halifax
and Nova Scotia but all over Canada. 2016 NBA rookie of the year, Andrew Wiggins has never
been to the East Coast of Canada! This will be a great opportunity for your
company/organization to be a part of. Positive events like these are not made possible without
the support of local and broader companies and organizations. We are requesting your support
in the form of sponsorships of cash donations, food donations, hotel accommodations, airline
discounts, or anything other form of donation you can assist us with to cover expenses and
most importantly make this memorable experience FREE for participants. We will honor and
thank our sponsors through promotional material, social media, news coverage, flyers, t-shirts,
etc. This is an opportunity we dont want to miss out on. I am confident this will be great for
Nova Scotia for years to come!!
