ItisalsounderstoodthatmanyendusersarestillreferringtoDINfastenerstandardsbecausetheyareunawareofDIN
withdrawingtheirstandardsinpreferencefortheISOstandards.Suppliersareencouragedtosuggesttoendusersto
adoptISOfastenerstandardsforallnewdesignsandtotransitionintoISOstandardsawayfromtheDINstandards
wherepossibleforcurrentusage.

Thereisnolaworrulethatstatesthatuserscannotcontinuetouseawithdrawnstandardforeveriftheywishtodoso.
Theyshould,howeverrealizethatoftheDIN,ASME,andISOmetricfastenerstandards,onlytheISOwillbetechnically
maintainedandupdatedinthefuture.

ISOistheworldwideacceptedstandard.

Itisnotgoodengineeringpracticetohavemorethanonestandardforanygivenproduct.Multiplemetricfastener
standardscauseunnecessaryconfusionandadverselyaffectproductuniformity.Globalindustryhasbeeninastateof
confusionsincethe1970swithitsuseofmetricfasteners,becauseusershavebeengiventhreestandardstochoose
fromforessentiallythesameproducts.Itistimeforallcompaniesinthesupplychainofmetricfastenerstostartan
orderlytransitiontowardstheuniformadoptionoffastenersmadetotheISOfastenerstandards.Toeffectivelycompete
inworldwidecommerce,productmanufacturersneedtoutilizetheworldwideacceptedISOfastenerstandards.
