About the Training

Times
The C.C.A.R Recovery Coach Academy is an intensive 5-day training that 8:30am - 4:30pm
focuses on providing individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor and
support anyone who would like to enter into, or sustain, long-term recovery
from an addiction. You do not have to be in recovery yourself. You can be
an ally, sponsor, employer, pastor, spouse or loved one who is interested in
helping others.

The C.C.A.R. Recovery Coach Academy is a five day training program
designed to provide participants with a general understanding of what it
takes to be a Recovery Coach. The role of the Recovery Coach is to promote
recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery and serving as a
personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery. There

are no prerequisites for attending this class and ALL are welcome!

The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy was conceived in 2008 in response to


the needs of volunteers in the C.C.A.R. recovery community centers. They
requested more training to better handle the variety of scenarios and
situations generated from recoverees who frequented the centers. This
included engagement and communication skills. When graduates returned C.C.A.R. Website
from the academy, they started calling themselves recovery coaches.

Recovery coaches do not provide clinical services. However, they do work


with people experiencing difficult emotional and physical states. The
training will provide participants with a basic understanding of substance
use and mental disorders, crisis intervention and how to respond in crisis

The fee for the Recovery Coach Academy is $400, which includes RCA 23 and 24th.
Manual and lunch for each day. This fee also includes 32 contact hours
from Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP). A Times
limited number of Church sponsored scholarships are available. 8:30 to 4:30pm
