ECD 243: End-of-Day Reflective Analysis

Schedule and Planning
Schedule and planning went just as our plans
originally suggested today.
We were able to pack up our things during recess
time and were ready to go by the time 12:00 rolled
around.
We were even able to squeeze in some extra story
reads between lunch and nap time.
Literacy Learning and Materials
Michelle read Dogs Colorful Day again during her
whole group time.
During my indoor movement plan today we used
cards with words and picture support to play
teacher says which is a spinoff of Simon says.
I read the book Parts to Gianna, Joy, and Charlotte
during small group time.
Michelle read My Lucky Day to the children during
lunch time.
Date: 03.10.
Teacher-Child Interactions
This morning I approached Kayln and asked her
about her dinner last night and how she enjoyed
the restruant that allows you to throw peanuts on
the floor. She told me that she loved eating there
and wanted to go back again soon.
Emerson got really upset about having to go to
breakfast this morning. I was able to approach, and
comfort her about going.
Gianna said, I have soccer practice today. I said,
It looks like it is going to rain outside today. Will
you still have practice if it rains? She said, Umm,
Im not sure but I dont think so.(Then we had a
discussion about rain and weather.)
Assessment
The students showed a great bit of interest in the
documentation boards that were displayed in the
hallway. Angela had to ask the children to come
back into the classroom to get ready for breakfast
because they only wanted to stay out and look at
them.
In the beginning of observation it was made known
very early on that Orion only wanted to play
computer games at any given opportunity. This
morning he showed interest in lots of other centers.
At breakfast, Kayln noticed that my name card was
on backward and asked to fix it for me.
When referring to which day Michelle and I would
be leaving Jaxon made a prediction that it would be

Teamwork
Neva worked well with the children at breakfast time
to get their trays dumped and milk poured into its
container.
When Michelle and I were cleaning up we worked
together and made it a team effort to get it done in
a timely fashion

Add work from hall display to documentation
notebook.
two more days because Michelles PA chart was not
to zero yet.
Gianna noticed that there was no card labeled for
zero on Michelles PA chart.
Successes and Revelations, Questions and
Confusions
Michelle had a great success today when singing the
her community song for the last time today. The
children really seemed to enjoy it.
I feel that we both had success in getting Orion less
focused on what the computer had to offer, and
more open minded thinking when it comes to
choosing centers.
When Charlotte found out it would be our last day at
the center she was really upset. She said, Aww no,
but I really wish you guys could stay a couple more
days.
While reading a book to Charlotte during small
group time Giana and Joy (In the same center) were
asking us to read quietly so that we wouldnt
distract them. Then about half way through my
reading they were engaged in the reading and
wanted to listen as well.
Anything else???
At the end of the day I received a sweet card with all
the childrens fingerprints, and a dollar tree gift card
from the class.
