REPORT ON SKYPE IN THE CLASSROOM.

DATE: 18th February 2016-02-21

On 18th February of 2016, SRK Seri Indera has participated in a programme


named Skype in The Classroom. This program was basically a sharing session
between pupils and teachers of the schools across four countries. The main aim of
this interactive program was to enrich the quality of education in schools and equip
young people to live and work successfully in a global society . The countries involved
were Malaysia, India, Egypt and Australia. SRK Seri Indera was represented by
seven pupils from year six and year five together under the guidance of Madam
Nazrah Amat and also facilitated by Madam Zunaidah bte Yahya as the head of
English Panel. Next, abundance thanks to Madam Muainah as the first school senior
assistant and also to Encik Noorazhan as the school technical assistant. Finally,
three English teacher trainees from IPG Perlis who had involved in this program
were Sir Zachary Farouk Chai, Sir Rolex Wheeler Baitin and Miss Paveetira
Neithanantan whom had guided and facilitated the pupils. Amidst that, the pupils
from Egypt, representing Morning Prep, School (Girls), Alexandria, Egypt were
guided by Madam Marwah Abdelfatah as their teacher and the pupils from India,
representing Veer Bhagat Singh Vidalaya, Mumbai, India were guided by Miss
Supriya Shastri as their teacher. The representative from Australia was Sir Frank
Oldfield from Fitzroy Learning Networking INC, Melbourne Australia and he is
specialized in English Language Learning (ESL). During this sharing session, the
pupils and teachers from all the four countries were exchanging knowledge,
information and questions about other countries.

The programme started at 4.00 pm. It took place at the school language lab.
Around 3.30 pm, the pupils had gathered inside the teachers room for a briefing
about the programme. They were informed on what they were going to do. After that,
the pupils went to the language room with the teachers. After the equipment was set
up, the programme was ready to start. At 4.10 pm, the programme began. All the
pupils and teachers were on the Skype for the sharing session. The teacher from
SRK Seri Indera began the session by greeting the other teachers and pupils. After
that, the pupils and teachers from all the school started to introduce themselves.
Next, the representative from Australia, Mr Franco started to tell about his place.
Among the topic discussed were the weather in his country and also the animal that
is available in Australia. The pupils from SRK Seri Indera did a wonderful job in
answering the questions asked. After that, the teacher and pupils from Egypt did a
sharing about the pyramid. It was an interesting session as we got to know many
things about the pyramid such as its history, size, height and duration to build it. The
pupils from SRK Seri Indera and India were actively asking questions during the
session. Not to be forgotten, the teacher and pupils also did some sharing regarding
the favourite food from each country.

Throughout this programme, everyone had benefited a lot. The sharing


session had deepened everyones pool of knowledge. The pupils from Srk Seri
Indera had gained several information about other countries. They have also
developed their listening and speaking skills during the sharing session by
continuously asking questions and actively participating throughout the programme.
This was in accordance to the etos appointed to SRK Seri Indera which was English
Language. This niche area of expertise will be the models for improvement for the
school itself and for the improvement to the other neighbouring school. To wrap up,
the teachers and the pupils had also agreed to meet up in another session in the
future where more knowledge and valuable information can be exchanged.
