War tends to happen for several reasons,

If boundaries are redrawn leaving maps in a mess,

If different peoples have conflicting ideals
And the depletion of resources means people have less.

Boundaries change (a result of past conflict),

The political map of the world we redraw,
And the people who lose their land and resources
Are bitter and angry. The consequence? War.

Examples of this are the area of Kashmir,

Disputed by India and Pakistan,
Also, the strip round the Mediterranean, Gaza.
Fought over by Israel and Palestinian.

The horrors of climate change loom ever closer,

With resources, like water, becoming much less,
And with finite resources, such as oil, near their limit,
The balance of power becomes readdressed.

Nowhere is this clearer than in Sudans Darfur region,

2 million lives broken, the UN to mend.
The reason? This arid and impoverished region,
Has limited good land for farmers to tend.

Most people believe that their way is the best one,

Their religion, their government, their belief of whats free,
If they try to impose their beliefs on their neighbours,
For the good of their people. They might disagree.

Afghanistans woes illustrate this idea closely,

Accused by the US of hiding their most wanted man
They removed Taliban who were said to support him,
And al-Qaeda. That was part of their plan.

Psychologists argue that conflict is natural,

That war is an outlet we cannot ignore,
The wish of world peace resounds like an echo,
As the number of conflicts grows steadily more.
