occupational success. Wherever you enter onto the Career Road, we can help you discover and
explore your interests, skills and values, choose a major, edit your resume or cover letter, build
your network, search for internships or summer jobs, prepare you for interviews (dress,
introductions, etiquette), transition out of UI to a job, grad school or alternate path (Peace
Corps, Americorps, work abroad, Fellowships) and navigate towards your future. Students and
Alumni can contact the Career Center office by phone (208-885-6121), e-mail (careercenter@
uidaho.edu), or stop by the office (Commons Room 334) to set up an appointment.

Mission
The Career Center provides University of Idaho students and alumni with services and resources that
empower them as they make critical life decisions and pursue career success. We enhance classroom
learning by facilitating career exploration, experiential learning opportunities, and access to future
employers.

Connecting Students & Alumni to Employers

Vision
To personally connect with every University of Idaho student and provide them with the tools and
guidance needed to develop and pursue their career goals, and become successful and contributing
members of their community.

Strategic Goals
We strive to fulfill our mission by:

l Facilitating, expanding, and improving service-learning, internships, and other

experiential learning opportunities that support UIs Learning Outcomes.
l Educating and empowering students as they discover career purpose and define personal
success through meaningful discussions, exploration, career assessment, and experiential
learning.
l Connecting students with community and industry as a means to engage students in
professional development and civic responsibilities.
l Creating a productive, rewarding, supportive, and collaborative work environment that
enables personal growth and professional development while fulfilling the mission of the
Career Center.

Why is career planning important?

Students cannot expect to simply graduate from college with a degree and be handed a job. They need to
find out what they like, what they are good at, and what they want to do for a career. They need to
develop their skills and be prepared when they enter the job market.

What does it cost to use the Career Center services?

All Career Center services are free to students and alumni with the exception of the Etiquette Dinner,
placement files, Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment.
