Float Project

Directions: Using evidence from maps, library books and the Internet, you will use a shoebox
or a tissue box to create a state float. Once you have completed your research and synthesized the
information, you will be responsible to create and present a float that contains information and
facts about one of our countrys fifty states.

Your state float must include the following:
Display an outline of your state and label the states capital with a star.
States name and nickname
State bird
State flower
State flag
State tree

Pick at least five (5) more from this list:

State symbols
Scenic attractions
State motto
State wildlife
Famous person/people from the state
State industry
Geographic landmark (forest, river landform, etc)

You may add any additional information about your state that you wish. Be sure to use a variety of
materials and remember:
