Number of Participants Required (Min to Max): 10-15 people per group, 2 groups
per session

Equipment/Materials/Supplies/Tools:

1. A-Frame (2)
2. Long ropes
3. Poster board with written expectations
4. 8 cones as markers for start and finish

Facilities Required/Environment: Inside or outside, hard and even floor, large space

Clothing Required: Rebound Dress Code, close toe shoes, athletic attire

Treatment Goals/Outcomes:

1. To enhance positive social interactions between students.


a. Students will remain at arms length boundary during entire 60 minute
session.
b. Each student will participate fully for the ice breaker, team building activity,
and processing.
2. Students will increase positive self-esteem.
a. Students will say one positive item about their experience of the session at
the end during processing.
b. Each student will say one positive thing about a task that someone in the
group did well by the end of processing.
3. Students will increase positive behaviors.
a. Each student will make eye contact at least once with the facilitator during
the instructions for ice breaker, activity, and processing.
b. Each student will not talk when the facilitator or other student are talking
during directions of ice breaker, activity, and during processing at the end of
the session.

Objective of Activity: The objective of the activity is to get the A-Frame over a
designated line as a team. The activity can end earlier if facilitator observes that the
team is frustrated and the activity becomes un-safe.

Tasks Needed to Complete Activity:

Directions:

1. Tell the Participants the name of the activity is A-Frame


2. Split group into two teams of 10-15 people
3. let group pick one person to be the A person
4. tell the groups what the objective is but do not give specifics on how to move the
A-frame
5. facilitator will stand the A-Frame up and have the rest of the group grab onto a
long rope and spread out
6. facilitator will help the A person to stand in the center of the frame
7. facilitator will step away and let the teams know that it is time to begin
8. the activity ends when a group gets the A frame across the designated finish line
or if the activity becomes unsafe
Safety Concerns/Precautions: EP, fall precautions, aggression, lower extremity joint
problems, grasp/grip strength.

Leadership Hints/Special Considerations: Dont over explain the objective or give


hints as to how best complete the activity, monitor the groups as they do the activity
and make sure they are not getting too frustrated, add hints as to how best complete the
activity if the group is really struggling and the time is almost up (you want them to be
able to complete the activity.

Variations/Modifications: If the group completes the activity quickly, have them try it
again without talking for the second round. Modifications: gloves for grip/ grasp strength.

3. If you did the activity again, what would you do differently?

4. What skills did we use in this activity? And how can those skills be used in your
day to day activities?
