To the parents and/or guardians of _________________,
I am writing to inform you that your child _______________ has received an
unsatisfactory letter grade in his/her progress report. The reason for the low score is due to the student not turning in their assignments. It is school policy to have a parent- student-teacher conference at your earliest convenience in which we can discuss a recovery plan for your child to get back on track. The only method the student can earn a passing grade at this point is to complete and turn in the assignments he/she has not turned in. Following the late assignment policy and procedures, each assignment turned in late will only be worth half the original points available to help the student develop a sense of accountability. Also one extra credit assignment will be available for the student which will be provided during the parent/student/teacher conference. Your child has approximately two weeks to catch up for this quarter, but will be observed in case he/she continues to not turn in assignments in the future. As his/her teacher and with the help of parents/guardians, I want to create a plan to facilitate time management for the student to complete their assignments in a timely fashion, both in class and at home. Your child is a great student and I believe once we set up a schedule for _____________ to follow, his/her grades will reflect the efforts channeled into class. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at (928) 627-6580 or by e-mail at jarenas@asu.edu. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
