the different shapes, while playing a
shape game on the smart board.

Objective #2: Individually, the


Kindergarten students will make shapes
by using stamps, stencils, and rulers after
reading stories about shapes.

Objective #3: As a class, the students will


make observations of the shapes they
drew, while also making observations
about 3D and other shape objects.

printmaking technique (e.g., stamping,
thumb or hand prints, objects)

Teaching Presentation

Engagement: The teacher will


communicate with the class about what
different shapes they see in their daily
lives and make a list on the board. Once
the list has been made, the teacher will
google the images for the students to
see.

Exploration: The teacher will give the


students various shapes in various sizes
to explore and play with. The teacher will
then have the students partner share
ideas they have about the shapes.

Explanation: The teacher will gather


the students, form a circle in the
middle of the room and being a group
discussion about the difference
shapes there are. They will talk about
the differences each shape have
along with reading the book Shape by
Shape.

Elaboration: The students will fill out a


shapes work sheet that has them match
the shape on the left with the shape in
the line of shapes, when they are done
they will create their own shapes using
stamps, stencils, etc. while waiting on the
other students to finish.

Evaluation: The students will name


shapes and give how many sides the
shape has by identifying them to the
teacher.

Closure: After everything has been


completed the class will come back
together and discuss how they now know
their shapes and how they are used in
our daily lives.
