Assessment outlines
The interns performance is assessed by the mentor and supervisor.
After the first four weeks working at the internship sponsor organisation, the intern is
required to write a 550-600 word reflection on his/her internship using HUST-UMJ
template (see Appendix A). In particular, the reflection is to:
introduce his/her internship organisation briefly (150 words)
describe his/her assignments in the organisation (100 words)
evaluate his/her success (100 words)
evaluate his/her challenges and responses to those challenges (100 words)
propose future actions to better cope with the internship circumstances in the next three
weeks (100 words)
Be aware that the word limits are provided as guidance for an effective report.
Upon completion of the internship, the intern is to write a 1500 word report on his/her
internship using HUST-UMJ template (see Appendix B) and its score accounts for 60%
of the final score. The report should:
describe his/her assignments in the organisation (250 words)
evaluate his/her success to illustrate the connection between assigned tasks and IPE
modules (350 words)
evaluate his/her challenges and responses to those challenges to illustrate the
connection between assigned tasks and IPE modules (350 words)
evaluate if his/her proposals mentioned in the mid-term reflection works and state the
reasons (150 words)
identify if there are any changes in personal development after the internship (150
words)
propose future actions for the interns professional development (200 words)
6
Be aware that the word limits are provided as guidance for an effective report.
In addition, interns are requested to submit their weekly observations in the written form
to the mentor in order that the mentor is able to provide more effective guidance during
the internship. This weekly written communication is not graded though it is likely to
contribute to a better outcome to the module.
The midterm reflection and final reports are assessed based on the following criteria:
Task fulfilment: the examiner considers if the reflection and report fully address the
requirements of the task and present, highlight and illustrate key features/bullet points
clearly and appropriately.
Language proficiency: the examiner evaluates if the writer organises the ideas with
appropriate illustration in a logical way using cohesion and coherence devices and
language appropriate to the context.
