Step 1: Prepare for Core Competency Event

with Self-Evaluation
The first step is to prepare for a Core Competency event
through self-study and self-evaluation. The Core Competencies
are skills that go across all of our training products. These five
core skills provide the foundation from which all Dale Carnegie
Training courses are delivered. The competencies for
classroom instruction are: Presenting, Responding, Coaching,
Questioning and Listening, and Business Relevance. A study
guide called The Art of Dale Carnegie Training is provided to
help you in this process.

What is a Core Competency Event?

What we repeatedly practice over time, with the proper coaching
and support becomes a skill. A Core Competency Event is designed
to evaluate your skills in a classroom environment. Successful
completion of a Core Competency Event allows an individual to
advance to product specific preparation.

Step 2: Practice Core Competency with Local

Evaluation
Next, you attend and participate in local workshops where you
better develop your skills through practice and evaluation by
your local sponsor. Based on an objective evaluation, you both
will know when you are ready to move to the next step.

Step 3: Attend Core Competency Event & Present for

Dale Carnegie Associates Evaluation
When you are ready, you will register to attend a Core
Competency event where you will present your skill. This is an

event conducted by Dale Carnegie & Associates Master
Trainers. At the end of the event your skills will be evaluated
similar to Step 2 to determine if they meet a minimum
standard of excellence. At this point, you are also required to
sign a contract.

Step 4: Prepare for Product Endorsement with Self-

Evaluation
The next step is to prepare for Product Endorsement through
self-study and self-evaluation. A Product Endorsement Guide
is provided to help you in this self-study.

What Product is being Endorsed?

The Dale Carnegie Core Program product being endorsed depends
entirely on which material you want to become certified to teach.
These programs include the Dale Carnegie Course in Effective
Communication and Human Relations, High-Impact Presentations,
Leadership Training for Managers, and How to Sell Like a Pro.

Step 5: Practice Product Endorsement with Local

Evaluation
It is now time for you to practice presenting the course. You
again attend and participate in local workshops where you
practice presenting the specific course content. During the
workshops, your local sponsor evaluates your progress. Just
like with the Core Competency, your performance is based on
an objective evaluation, so you both will know when you are
ready to move to the next step.

Step 6: Attend Product Endorsement Event with Dale

Carnegie and Associates Trainer Evaluation
Again, when you are ready, you will register to attend a
Product Endorsement event where you will present your skill in
the context of a specific course. You must have fulfilled all
prerequisites to register. This is also an event conducted by
Dale Carnegie & Associates Master Trainers. At the end of the
event your skills are evaluated, similar to Step 3, to determine
if they meet a minimum standard of excellence.

What is a Product Endorsement Event?
The individual who has completed a Product Endorsement Guide, and
practiced the delivery of the product in local workshops with coaching
and support is now ready to advance to a Product Endorsement Event.
Here they will demonstrate their skills for evaluation by Dale Carnegie
Associates. Successful completion of this process advances this
individual to a Provisional Trainer level and their first tandem
experience.

Step 7: Tandem Teach a Course

After successfully completing the Product Endorsement, you
will teach a course in tandem with a fully licensed trainer to
confirm you are ready to be fully licensed. Upon this
confirmation, you are granted a license to teach.

What is a Tandem Teaching Experience?

Quality instruction and customer satisfaction are key to Dale Carnegie
Trainings many years of success. A Provisional Trainer conducts their first
Dale Carnegie Training program with a fully licensed trainer in the room
at all times. This ensures that the Provisional Trainer has immediate
responses for questions and issues that may arise. In addition, the
Provisional Trainer has a coach to guide and support their on-going skill
development and strengthen their understanding of a specific program.

Step 8: Renewing your License

Trainers are required to attend a yearly refresher course for
their respective license. In order to maintain and improve your
skills, you must also renew your license every 3 years. If you
are already licensed and/or want to add another product to
your license, you would need to repeat steps 5, 6 and 7.
