INTRODUCTION
Automatic multistoried car parking system helps to minimize the parking area. In the
modern world where parking space has become a very big problem, it has become very
important to avoid the wastage of space in modern big companies and apartments etc. in
places where more than 100 cars need to be parked, this system proves to be useful in
reducing wastage of space. This automatic car parking system enables the parking of
vehicles, floor after floor and thus reducing the space used. Here any number of cars can be
parked according to the requirement. These makes the system modernized and thus space-
saving one.
Any like Newyork, Delhi, London has over five million cars and two-wheelers on its roads,
but not enough parking spaces. The demand for parking space has, on an average in the
main markets of Delhi, outstripped demand by 43 per cent. It is not just a problem of Delhi
or Mumbai; all the big cities in India are facing the space crunch. Parking space is fast
becoming a major issue in other cities like Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad,
Chandigarh, Pune and other urban and semi-urban cities. Multi-storey car parks provide
lower building cost per parking slot, as they typically require less building volume and less
ground area than a conventional facility with the same capacity. A multi-storey car parks
offer greatest possible flexibility for the realization of optimum parking solution. Time-
saving vertical and horizontal movements take place simultaneously ensuring fast parking
and retrieval times.
CHAPTER- 2
LITERATURE SURVEY
In today parking lots there are no standard system to check for parking spaces. The system
heavily relies on human interaction with the physical space and entity. This leads to wastage
of human manpower and also parking spaces at times. These parking lots are dependent on
Human-to-Human Interaction (HHI) which is not efficient. Previously, various techniques
have been proposed to overcome such problems. Smart parking with help of short
messaging service (SMS) was devised to provide an entry and exit password which would
allow the person to authenticate himself/herself at the entry/exit point . The ZigBee wireless
sensor network along with global system for mobile (GSM) used a data from each node to
show if the parking space is available and the data was available only at the entry point and
at the administration end.[1]
The smart parking system implemented mainly in the Europe, United States and Japan is
developed with the incorporation of advanced technologies and researches from various
academic disciplines.[1]Now-a-days ,there is a rapid growth in parking system. Manpower
is needed for each car parking slot to select a parking slot manually and give direction to
drive properly into slot.[1] So, there is a need to develop an automatic parking system
which will reduce manual work as well as will be useful for careful parking of cars and
other vehicles.[2] Parking system routinely experience parking related challenges,
especially in the urban and metropolitan areas. While doing a survey we have found that
this automatic car parking system has been proposed by various researchers using different
technology. In some paper some researchers have proposed this system using Around View
Monitor (AVM).[2]

FUTURE SCOPE
CHAPTER-4
SCOPE OF WORK
Automated parking systems are designed to be efficient. By not requiring space for cars to
drive in and out, and no space needed for pedestrians, these systems can park the same or
more cars than a traditional car garage twice as large. It's believed that these systems will
solve the growing demand for parking worldwide.
The automated systems works very simply; a driver drives into the car park bay and then
exits and leaves their car. The computerized system then activates lifts to take the car to the
nearest open spot. When the driver wishes to recall the vehicle, they just request it from a
computer terminal outside of the car park and within 3 minutes the car is returned and the
driver can drive off.
These parking systems are typically smaller than conventional parking garages. Using
nearly half of the space, they can park the same or more number of cars than the
conventional garage. This is due to the inefficiencies of the traditional car garage.
Automated systems are also safer than the current norm. Being safely housed in a building
with no traffic and no people ensures the vehicle is safe from dents, scratches and minor
accidents but also from vandalism and theft.
They are also more convenient as a driver doesn't spend time searching for a spot, walking
to and from their car and there's never a worry of forgetting where they parked. As a bonus,
these systems are also green. With no cars driving in and out of the building, the amount of
pollution is reduced to nearly zero.
CHAPTER-5
PROBLEM DEFINAT ION
An ideal solution for todays car parking and traffic problem in cities. Automated Car
Parking System offers utmost efficiency, convenience, safety & reliability.
Automated car parking is a method of automatically parking and retrieving cars that
typically use a system of pallets and lifts. The intention is to compact more cars in the same
space, reduce the space needed to park the same number of cars. Automated car parks can
be situated above or below ground or a combination of both.
Car parking system is a system that is used to help managing cars in parking area in other to
avoid congestion and arrange cars in an allocated position. The system also helps to track
how many cars pass through the gate and the duration taken by each, and then it will
calculate the amount of money a car should pay when exiting. Car parking system is being
used in many congested area or location where there are many meeting point of people like
where there are more than one shopping complex near to each other or where there is
megamall or stadium. For example like Sunway pyramid, Lowy at and Timesqure, and
Midvale megamall all in Malaysia.
