Student Teaching Weekly Log

Directions: Answer these questions each week and email them to your student teaching
supervisor.

Name: Katie Ruga Week: March 27-31

1. How did you spend your time this week? What responsibilities did you have?

I spent my time full time teaching. Mrs. Douglas was only in the room when I was teaching
science otherwise I was by myself. I created some graphic organizers, did some fun things with
small groups, taught fractions, electric forces and guided the students in conducting a science
experiment. It was a much better week!

2. What were your most satisfying experiences? What were your most challenging experiences?

It was a much better week. I took to heart what you said about being more excited and allowing
the kids to have fun and then pull it back together and guess what it worked!!! I was
beyond excited. I chose a spot to stand at the front and they figured it quickly. Satisfying
experiences happened all throughout the week. We had fun learning opinion writing and doing
the science experiment. It got me excited to see them excited!

Math was a challenge. They are stuck on parts of whole fractions (1/3 of 24) so we had to take a
couple of extra days to re-teach and assist students with that. I had a couple of student challenges
but not near as rough/bad as the first week.

3. What are the plans for the upcoming week?

Continue to teach full time.

Behavioral: The RAMS worked awesome last week so I plan on continuing that this week. We
are teaching comparing fractions this week which will be interesting. We also have a fun science
experiment for the whole week
