Creating Graphs in Google

Sheets
This may be helpful for your Statistics Project!
Double Bar Graph
Remember that your y-axis is a frequency! So, you need to
make a table of values that includes frequencies, such as
below:
Creating the Double Bar Graph
Highlight the data: Insert a chart:

(Include column and row

titles!)
Choose the double Bar Graph
You can customize
this under the
customize tab
Histogram
Remember that a histogram is using continuous data, and that
your y-axis is a frequency, so input your data such as
follows:
Highlight your data, and insert the Go to the Chart Types tab, to
chart: very near the bottom of the page,
under Other. There is a
histogram option.
You can customize
this chart under
the customize tab
Also under the customize
tab, you can change your
bucket size, or the
numbers that are along your
x-axis. The bucket size to
the right is 0.5.
Distribution Curve
Your distribution curve should have a frequency for its
y-axis, so you will need to create another table showing
frequency. Below, I have shown you the original data, then
the frequency table I created in order make the distribution
curve:
Highlight the frequency table, and
insert your chart. You will want
to choose Chart Type then Smooth
Line chart:
As before, you can
customize this
under Customize
Box and Whisker Graph
Your box and whisker graph consists of 5 data points: the
minimum, Q1, Median, Q3, and maximum. Go to the site Alcula
and they will create a boxplot for you once you have your
5-number summary. You can obtain your 5-number summary
through your calculator, or various websites online. You
can take a screenshot of your boxplot to insert it into your
presentation.
Circle Graph
Your circle graph should have no more than 5 or 6 slices.
Be sure that you understand what each of your slices
represents:
Two Way Frequency Table
Your two way frequency table show the relationships between
two categorical variables. You may have already created
this earlier to make another of your charts:
Standard Deviation
You can find your standard deviation in your calculator by
going to Stat - Edit (enter your data) then Stat - Calc -
1-Var Stats. However, you can also do this from your Google
Sheets. Take the data you want to find the standard
deviation of, such as below:
Go to another cell, such as the Then highlight the data you want to
cell below it and type in: find the standard deviation of and
close your bracket. Finally hit
=stdev( enter.
The number
calculated is your
standard deviation
The standard deviation is a statistic that tells you how tightly
all the various examples are clustered around the mean in a
set of data. When the examples are pretty tightly bunched
together and the bell-shaped curve is steep, the standard
deviation is small. When the examples are spread apart and
the bell curve is relatively flat, that tells you you have a
relatively large standard deviation.
