Course Description
This course is a general introduction to major movements in the arts from the late Eighteenth to the
Twenty-first centuries. It is designed for the beginning student and assumes no previous experience in
art or art history. The course will focus on painting and sculpture with reference to architecture and
decorative arts. In addition to an introduction to the major artworks the course will teach the
fundamental of visual analysis and the language used to describe works of art.
