PERENNIAL THEATRE COMPANY PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Audition Notice
Calling for Expressions of Interest from Actors, Theatre Makers, Writers & Directors
BACKGROUND
Perennial Theatre Company is a young, independent platform that solely focuses on producing new and
original, predominantly ensemble-base works. The productions that we showcase are influenced by a
wide range of theatre practices and we try to create works that can withstand the test of time.

We were recently accepted a one-month residency at Shopfront Contemporary Arts Center and are
supported to develop our work Split Spectrum which has been developing for over a year. Performers
will work together as an ensemble to create new material for the piece, anchoring the content at the
script that was produced during the last development.

THE PROJECT
The piece Split Spectrum is an absurdist theatre performance that surrounds the concept of identity.
How do we choose what we stand for in life? How far are we willing to go for what we believe in? This is
a constant question that many of us ask, exploring existentialism and how our actions are the roots of
our destiny.

We are looking for performers of all ethnicity, ages and creative backgrounds. Artists must be
comfortable working collaboratively and commit to the project. No formal performance training is
required but experience in performing is favorable.

The commitment for this project is approximately 2 days per week for the month of May with extra
sessions towards the end to polish the work before presenting a public showing. The days currently
discussed are:
- Tuesdays 2PM-6PM
- Fridays 12PM-4PM
- Sundays (optional) 2PM-6PM
Dates are currently flexible and details can be negotiated/discussed with the chosen performers.

There is NO FEE for the participation and performance of this development. Artists are donating their
time and services on a voluntary basis. Perennial Theatre Company receives no fee or funding for the
duration of this residency. However, if the project is successful and receives further funding, artists will
be invited back and the appropriate fee will be provided in the future.
