The town has no modern cars and most modern buildings are
abandoned or destroyed, replaced with simple huts. The town
has the look of a time long ago. A few townsfolk walk
around, most wearing rags and lightly threaded clothes.
MAXWELL
We’re just here to find him,
Landon. We do that, then we go.
LANDON LYGOON
(in a loud theatrical voice)
Yes sir, lord Maxwell Percival!
They stop in front of a small home. A dirty old man mills
around out front. Landon gets off the horse and approaches
him.

Dollar’s don’t buy nothin’ anymore.
Do you have anything else?
LANDON LYGOON
No! Now do you know who’s in this
house here, huh old man?
OLD MAN
Ah, to hell with you..
The old man begins to stagger off, but before he can, Landon
kicks him violently to the ground. Several people from the
town watch on with hatred. Maxwell goes to the man on the
ground.

MAXWELL
(to Landon)
He aint hurtin’ anybody! Now let’s
find this man!
Maxwell leads Landon quickly to the front door of the hut
and knocks.
LANDON LYGOON
(yelling)
OPEN UP!
Slowly the door opens and a dirty young woman appears.
WOMEN
Yes?
Landon has the look of a wolf that’s found its prey and
walks in the hut.
LANDON LYGOON
(interrupts)
He was your lover. Tell me, did you
know you were married to a
terrorist? Hadeem the terrorist? Do
you know the penalty for aiding a
terrorist?
The women becomes frightened as the baby begins to cry.
LANDON LYGOON (CONT’D)
I’m afraid we’re gonna have to
bring you in. Also, you’re behind
on your taxes. I doubt you can pay
it, right?

WOMEN
No. I told you, he left me. He
wasn’t a terrorist. If I go, who’ll
take care of my son?
LANDON LYGOON
Good point. You have no money, yet
you owe. You aided a suspected
terrorist who we can’t find and all
you have is your son. Tsk, Tsk.
You’re just... not a very valuable
member of society, are you?
Fear grips the woman’s face as Landon draws his sword..
MAXWELL
(to Landon)
Wait!
- Landon quickly stabs her in the stomach. Maxwell pushes
Landon down and tries in vein to help her. The woman’s
terror-filled eyes burn a hole into Maxwell’s. She
struggles to get some words out.
THE WOMAN
(slurred and very weakly)
My.. baby.
She coughs up blood and slouches to the ground, dead.
MAXWELL (CONT’D)
(to Landon)
You son-of-a-bitch!
LANDON LYGOON
It had to be done! What good would
she be!? You know she couldn’t take
care of herself, let alone that
child! They were already dead.

VOICE OVER
As America began to fall deeper and
deeper into bankruptcy, society
began to unravel. The welfare and
warfare system had changed America
greatly. The dollar had become
useless. A nuclear terrorist attack
on Washington led to the creation
of the Civilian Police Force.
A nuclear bomb explodes over Washington D.C. Troops march.
ALEXANDER
(grins)
Keep workin’ at it Tyler. But
you’ll never be faster than me.
TYLER
Oh yeah? Let’s go then..
Tyler gestures to the lake as they dive in and race across.

Tyler and Alexander both sit on the shore. Water dripping

You gonna watch the speech?
ALEXANDER
The great William Aiden? Everyone’s
been talkin’ about him. Not sure
what the big deal is.
TYLER
(beat)
Can you imagine not having to worry
about the CPF? We have to armor up
just to go outside of Liberty. Some
say he’ll disband it. Can you
imagine that? End the wars..
ALEXANDER
(beat)
I’ll believe it when I see it. You
have one of your dreams about him?
TYLER
(laughs)
No, not yet. You’ll be the first,
well the only one to know when I
do.
Footsteps approach. Maxwell, now much older stands before
them.
MAXWELL
Alexander, get that wood?
ALEXANDER
Yes, hours ago.
MAXWELL
Tyler how’s that pretty mom of
yours doing?
TYLER
She’s okay. Been busy.
MAXWELL

Yeah.. You boys ready for tomorrow?
Alexander? Could get tough out

MAXWELL
Savior? What the hell you on about
Xander?
ON THE TV
WILLIAM AIDEN (40’s) is being interviewed.
(CONTINUED)

INTERVIEWER
After years of no election, people
are finally being allowed to vote.
How will you change things?
WILLIAM AIDEN
We have to regain our trust in
freedom. It’s as though freedom has
become our enemy, and tyranny our
friend. I don’t think that’s the
way it should ever be. At least not
in America.
INTERVIEWER
So you say, but there are those who
say our lax, open society invited
the attack on our capital and damn
near destroyed America. That if we
don’t continue to fight them and
seek them out, that we will only
invite further attacks.
WILLIAM AIDEN
It’s imperative that we, if we wish
to retain our freedom, we must stop
getting involved in unnecessary
conflicts and wars. If we do that,
then we need not succumb to the
temptation of an all powerful and
eventually tyrannical government.
INTERVIEWER
Do you worry about these anti
government militias being formed?
INTERVIEWER
So how will you do it?
WILLIAM AIDEN
We have to begin right now and
disband the Civilian Police Force

back here. Hopefully this will be a
good haul.. We need it.
12.
MAXWELL
(yells)
Here they are!
The Civilian Police Force stops before the welcoming
committee. A tall, older man gets down from his horse and
approaches the front of the line.
CIVILIAN POLICE FORCE MAN
By order of the United States
Government and the Texas Civilian
Police Force, we demand you move so
we can enter and search!
Maxwell and some of the men of Liberty laugh.
MAXWELL
This town will give in to no such
demands. Leave now and save
yourself an embarrassing defeat.
The man looks incredulous.

MAXWELL
Papa Smurf.
The man slowly makes his way back to his horse and gets on.
He gestures to the rest of his men to continue forward into
the town. Maxwell kisses his cross, closes his eyes and
prays quickly. He opens his eyes and raises his mace and..
Both sides CHARGE.
As the two sides coalesce men from both sides
fall. Alexander charges with swords in both hands and moves
with incredibly quickness and grace, slaying soldier after
soldier. Sometimes two at once.
Ziyad, Aisha and Misha flash about with the use of various
martial art’s moves as well as throwing daggers. The
Civilian Police Force is completely unprepared for them.
Tyler, hanging back on horseback picks off men with his bow
and arrow very quickly. The remaining men from Liberty and
Reforge join in with general hand-to-hand fighting, lead by
Maxwell who clubs men down one after the other.
MAXWELL
You alright? Xander?
Alexander snaps out of it and nods his head.
14.
BRAYDEN
Didn’t mean to scare you.
Alexander forces a grin and continues to wash in the water.
ALEXANDER
Nothing can scare me, I’m a fierce
warrior.
Brayden smirks and walks with the horse across the river to
Alexander.
BRAYDEN
I’m from Reforge. Wanted to thank
you. The way you fought..
Incredible. Names Brayden.

Sir, Another transport has been

back. They barely survived and they
say it was Alexander... and
Liberty!
Luke slams his fist to the table and then runs his hand
through his hair in frustration. He rises and stares out the
window. The young man exits.
LUKE DARION

We must find these people.
ALEXANDER

Aisha see’s Tyler dancing wildly with a girl.
AISHA
Look at him go!
Alexander looks up to notice Tyler and forces a smile that
quickly fades.
ALEXANDER
Almost as graceful as me.
The dance ends as Tyler joins Alexander and Aisha. Tyler is
out of breath but he bows and extends his hand to Aisha and
says in a heavy English accent -
TYLER
Aisha, care to dance?
AISHA
(to Tyler)
Ok. But don’t you throw me all over
the place..
She takes his hand as he ushers her to the dance area. The
music takes on a faster pace as people clap. Tyler laughs as
he takes Aisha’s hand and let’s loose. Alexander grins as he
watches Tyler swing her all over the place. Aisha smiles
brightly.
Alexander continues to watch as Tyler and Aisha are
interrupted by HAMAD (21), who is middle eastern, tall,
attractive and has the mark of the terrorist. Aisha
struggles to keep Hamad from Tyler. She willingly goes with
Hamad as Tyler stands dejected.
Alexander then notices Brayden dancing with an older women.

Brayden puts his hand up to his mark.

BRAYDEN
Never been much of a fighter.
ALEXANDER

More of a lover?
ALEXANDER

Brayden turns, puts his hand on Alexander’s shoulder.
BRAYDEN

ALEXANDER
Of course. How’d you learn?
BRAYDEN

Alexander turns to see everyone, including Maxwell leaving.
ALEXANDER
Yeah, looks that way. I’ll see

They shake hands as Brayden struggles to let go.
BRAYDEN
Yeah, anytime.
Alexander turns and walks toward his horse while Brayden

AISHA (cont’d)
I don’t want to have anything to do
with you anymore. Your hate is too
much!
She tries to run away but Samuel grabs and forces her to the
ground.
TYLER VISION
Samuel stands over Aisha’s lifeless body. He has blood on
his hands.
END OF VISION
Tyler jumps up.

TYLER
(yells)
Aisha!
Tyler hears a muffled scream and runs to that area.
BRAYDEN (CONT’D)
(to Tyler)
Get her out of here. Go get
someone.
TYLER
Okay.
Tyler picks up Aisha and carries her out of the forest.

Once in the barn he and the men are stunned to see that
Samuel is gone. A door at the back of the barn is open. They
run to and look out the back door, not seeing anyone.
ZIYAD
We have to find him, I will kill
him for what he did to her!
Tyler paces outside, waiting for word. Misha comes out with
her arms folded and approaches Tyler. Tyler expects the
worst but is shocked when Misha unfolds her arms and hugs
Tyler, crying.
TYLER
Is she okay?
MISHA
Yes, because of you.
She stands back giving him a clear path to the front door.
MISHA (CONT’D)
Go. She needs you now.
Tyler runs in the house.
AISHA
How did you know?
TYLER
(beat)
I .. I’m a witch, remember?
She forces a very faint grin.
AISHA
(whispers)
More like an angel.
She pulls him closer as he gently kisses her on the
forehead.

ALEXANDER
What happened?
BRAYDEN
Some guy almost killed Aisha. I
came across Tyler and him
fighting. Roughed her up pretty
good.
Alexander’s face darkens.
ALEXANDER
How is she?
BRAYDEN
Fine, Tyler’s with her.
ALEXANDER
(sighs)
That’s good. Was it Samuel?
BRAYDEN
Yes, that’s it. But he’s escaped,
we don’t know where he is.

ALEXANDER
Hey..
Very weakly and sleepily, Aisha starts to wake up.
AISHA
Hey Zander.
ALEXANDER
You doin’ alright?
She sits up, trying to not look so helpless.
AISHA
I’m fine. Thanks to your boyfr
Brayden.
Alexander looks at Tyler, Tyler nods as if they all know.
ALEXANDER
I’m glad he was there.
Alexander motions to Tyler.
ALEXANDER (CONT’D)
Not to mention this guy.
Aisha laughs as Alexander kisses her on the head and gets
up.
ALEXANDER (CONT’D)
(to Tyler)
Take good care of her.
Alexander exits the room as Tyler sits next to Aisha.

MAXWELL (CONT’D)
What you’re doing with him, must
stop.
ALEXANDER
You don’t know him.
Maxwell closes his eyes in anger.
MAXWELL
It doesn’t matter if I know him. I
know what the Bible says, I don’t
need anything more.
Alexander stands up angrily.
ALEXANDER
Why is it you have no problem with
me being this, killing machine, but
I can’t be.. What I am!?
MAXWELL
Oh I don’t wanna hear that, it’s
not who you are!
ALEXANDER
I’m sorry father, but I am! I am
what I am, regardless of what you
and your precious Bible says. All
these years of fighting won’t
change that!

ALEXANDER (CONT’D)
I’m sorry I could never be the son
you wanted, God knows I’ve tried.
Alexander slowly turns and exits the hut while Maxwell’s
steely eyes slowly tear up as he stands staring at the door.
BRAYDEN
I’m so sorry.
ALEXANDER
Not your fault. Told you that.
BRAYDEN
I suppose. Just can’t help but feel
guilty.

BRAYDEN
You scared?
Alexander turns over on his side and props his head up
looking toward Brayden.
ALEXANDER
(beat)
A little, but it’s good. You?
Brayden turns and looks Alexander deep in his eyes.
BRAYDEN
Not at all.
Brayden embraces and kisses Alexander. Brayden moves on top
of Alexander as they continue to passionately kiss.
TYLER
(to Alexander)
Zander! Are you back for good?
ALEXANDER
Just came to warn you guys.
TYLER
You guys?
Maxwell approaches.
MAXWELL
About what?

ALEXANDER
(to Maxwell)
We saw at least 12 to 15 army
vehicles in town, looks like
they’re preparing for something.
Something big.
Maxwell looks like he was gut punched.
ALEXANDER (CONT’D)
Just thought I’d let you know.
TYLER
Come on, Alexander. You know how
stubborn he is. I’m sure if you
just ask..
ALEXANDER
(interrupts)
I shouldn’t have to, Tyler. Say hi
to Aisha and your mom for me.
TYLER
Will do.
Brayden and Alexander exit Liberty.

MAXWELL
(to Luke)
You old son-of-a-bitch!
They shake hands aggressively.
LUKE DARION
I should’ve known..
MAXWELL
Known what? We’re just a peaceful
militia here.
LUKE DARION
Uh huh, yeah right. Those agents
you marked had to be let go.
Maxwell laughs.
MAXWELL
Don’t know what yer talkin’ bout
there but I’m sure they had it
coming.
Jennifer is walking across the courtyard as she sees Maxwell
and Luke talking. She is shocked to see Luke.
JENNIFER
Luke? Is that you?
Maxwell and Luke look back at Jennifer. Luke now looks
equally shocked as Jennifer comes toward him.

LUKE DARION
My God, Jenn.
JENNIFER
Been awhile.
LUKE DARION
I’d no idea you were still..
JENNIFER
I know, had to... Had to get
out. You know there’s no other
way.
Tyler approaches on horseback with a worried look across his
face. He dismounts the horse and stands by his mother.
TYLER
(to Jennifer)
What’s this all about?
Tyler is flustered.
TYLER
Yeah.. nice to meet you.
Luke starts slowly walking down the Liberty Courtyard taking
stock of all the different buildings, as Maxwell, Jennifer
and Tyler follow. Other people from Liberty watch Luke with
evil stares.
LUKE DARION
Boy am I getting some looks. This
place is incredible. Perfect spot,
not on the way to anything and
nothing for miles...

MAXWELL
That’s the idea..
LUKE DARION
Where’s this Alexander I keep
hearing about?
LUKE DARION
Two, maybe three days?
MAXWELL

We’ll need time to discuss this.
LUKE DARION
(sighs)
Good.

MAXWELL
They are down for one reason. To
destroy us. We have two options,
surrender or stay and fight.
MAXWELL
(beat)
I say we fight.
Most of the crowd cheers loudly.
LUKE DARION
Take a seat.
They both sit, Luke sitting behind his desk.
LUKE DARION
I hope they’ve decided to
surrender.
Tyler shakes his head, no.
TYLER
Most of us joined Liberty because
we’ve been hurt by the government
one way or another. There’s no way
in hell we’re gonna surrender.

LUKE DARION
I see. You seem pretty convinced,
think it’s too late to change your
mind?
TYLER
(beat)
What about your mind?
LUKE DARION
What?
LUKE DARION
(long pause)
What gave you that idea?
Tyler turns toward Luke.
TYLER
Not sure.. a feeling, I guess?
LUKE DARION
That’s not possible.
TYLER
Well, you can’t blame me for
trying.
Tyler steps away from the window and toward the door,
readying to leave. Luke gets up and follows him. Tyler
extends his hand for Luke to shake.
TYLER
(beat)
Good luck...
ALEXANDER
(sighs)
We’ve been over this, Bray.
Brayden turns toward Alexander.
BRAYDEN
Your father isn’t the only
one. Your friends are there. They
don’t deserve to be abandoned like
this.
MAXWELL
(to Alexander)
No need. You can stay in Samuel’s
place since he won’t be needin’ it
anymore.

AISHA

Thank God you’re back.
People slap Alexander on the shoulder and welcome him back.
JAMES HARRIS
So they chose to stay..
LUKE DARION
(beat)
Yes. But, I think if we just leave
them alone from now on, they’ll
leave us alone. I don’t want to
make martyrs out of them.
James scowls at Luke.
JAMES HARRIS
Have you learned
nothing? Terrorists rely on
weakness.

James is perplexed.
JAMES HARRIS
What the hell you doin?
MAXWELL
Luke, what in the hell are you
doin?
Luke smiles brightly at Maxwell and offers his hand.
LUKE DARION
I decided to come to fight
alongside my friends.
75 OUTSIDE LIBERTY
The militia floods toward Liberty and engages the Military
very quickly. Some of the people of Liberty cheer. The
remaining Military try to retreat, but they only run into
more militia and are taken down quickly.
76 INSIDE LIBERTY
Aisha, Maxwell, Tyler, Luke, Misha are exhausted and
bloodied as they stand in shock that they’ve won.
Ziyad picks up Alexander and carries him to
Maxwell. Maxwell drops his weapon immediately and grabs his
son’s lifeless body and carries him inside Maxwell’s hut.
79 MAXWELL/ALEXANDER MONTAGE
Maxwell picks up baby Alexander as Alexander
giggles. Maxwell washes baby Alexander. Maxwell trains
younger Alexander with a sword.
80 END MONTAGE
MAXWELL
(toward God)
Why now?
Tyler, fighting back tears, places his hand on Alexander’s
hand, closes his eyes and looks down.
TYLER
You can go my (breaking) fr-friend.
Tyler breaks down as Aisha consoles him. The room watches
Alexander, waiting. Finally Alexander takes a long, deep
breath and is gone. Jennifer checks his pulse, her face
confirming what they already know.
JENNIFER
(whispers)
He’s gone.
WILLIAM AIDEN
(grins)
Looks like he’ll be fine.
Luke joins Tyler and Aisha.

MAXWELL
Did you hear the good news?
BRAYDEN
No.
MAXWELL
Aiden won.
A little excitement bubbles to the surface of Brayden’s face
but quickly fades.
VOICE OVER
The American people slowly began to
rebuild. President Aiden quickly
disbanded the Civilian Police Force
and restored all civil liberties he
could. Over time he worked to
bring troops home from around the
world, shrink government, reduce
debt significantly and allowed gold
and silver to be used as
money. Life in America wasn’t
perfect but at least there was hope
for tomorrow.
FADE OUT.
