Does Age Difference Matter?

In my opinion, I think age is just a number. If you FEEL young around him, then maybe it isn't
the right fit... But if you feel HAPPY around him, and you laugh a lot and feel like YOURSELF,
then why not go for it?
You're going to hear a million different opinions on here about whether it's right or wrong. But
just remember, that's exactly what they are...OPINIONS. If you are happy then who cares?

As long as the man or women is over 18 years of age it doesn't matter.Sure, there may be some
opinions if there is a great difference in ages but, true love doesn't know age and shouldn't care.
As long as the two of them are happy and are willing to do what ever it takes to make their
marriage work then, who cares what the age difference is ?

My dear, the fact that you are asking this question means that you also have a doubt.
Age difference is not a problem, if you do not let it be. Talk to your partner, and discuss the
matter. Society will always find something to point fingers at, so dont let that spoil something
special.

I really dont think the age difference should be a problem , if there is love between two people
what does it matter?

When you are in love, age is simply a number!

My husband and I are twenty years apart in age (he is older than I am) and while we have had a few
people treat us differently or make offhand comments the age difference has not been an issue. We have
been married for five years now and we have a four year old son together. I always tell people that ask
that they should marry the person they are in love with even if they have an age difference; why miss
out on a wonderful life together just because of an age difference right?

Age is just a figure when the love two persons have for each other is ordained by God. If it was, then
who are we to question it however it takes hard work and dedication for love to transcend a vast age
difference

nope age difference doesnt matter but love and understanding really matter.i mean u can be in a
relationship with a guy ur age without being happy.my boyfirend is 33years older than me but we really
love each other and we plan on moving in together.Of course its not gonna be an easy cuz we dont
always love the same things ,the same music,he doesnt like clubing and i do but we can handle that we
are ready for it..i've learned a lot from my relationship with that men and hope to learn more..its really
different from everything i've had before and have a better vision of life..

There is a 19 year age difference between my husband and I. We have been married 14 years. I have no
doubt that he was a gift from God. I feel sorry for the people who pass up blessings because they don't
come in the package they expect them to or they worry what other people will think. I can not imagine
my life without my husband. He is the first man that loved me for me and I never felt I had to be
somebody I wasn't for him to love me.
But if you're smart, you'll judge your future spouse on something more meaningful than a number.

Marriage isn't a contract, it's covenant between three people - husband, wife, and God.

I'm 18 and my boyfriend is 42, a year older than my father. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only
one who has this kind of relationship. I'm struggling though with how to tell my parents.

my girlfriend is 37 years younger than me. We are 500 miles apart and only get to see each
other once a month. Because of the distance, our relationship is NOT based on sex - but on
conversation and sharing. It works well for us. Oh and by the way - my previous relationship
was to a woman 3 years younger than me - it was miserable - and it wound up in divorce. I cant
understand how anyone can criticize age-gap relationships when the divorce rate in this country
(with the vast majority of those divorces occurring between non age-gap couples) is above 50%.
Obviously being in a "normal" relationship or marriage is no guarantee of success.

My girlfriend is 24 years younger than me. We have been together 9 months and are both quite
happy with the direction and progress of the relationship. When we met, I had been divorced 8
years and she has never been married. My two sons (22 & 20) have given their approval of the
relationship. It has been difficult getting acceptance from outsiders, but nothing we can't handle.
And we are now discussing marriage and children. There is nothing wrong with the age
difference in my opinion. However, there were no existing relationships harmed here.

Mizz. Short and sexy

I am going on 30 and the love of my life is 55. Although there are reasons why we are unable to
be together all the time right now it is what we both want. I have become a better person
because of him and we both want nothing more than to be together. Many that are very close to
me have met him and seen us together and they say it is amazing to finally see me happy. I love
with all my heart and he feels the same for me so I know age makes no difference when it
comes to who and what your heart want.

I'm so glad I found this article. I'm in a relationship with a man about 25 years older than me.
When we met we were both single, so there was no baggage of a wife or anything like that. I'm
25 and have had relationships before, one which almost led to marriage, but nothing like what
I'm experiencing with my man now. I have never experienced emotional and physical intimacy
like I do now.
A lot of articles on this subject state that you and your older man will have nothing in common;
that he will want to go to bed early, or stay in, and your tastes in music and movies will be
different. Not in my case! We travel every weekend, and have "date night" at least once a week.
We stay up and out till 1am experiencing local artists and musicians performing at cafes. We are
both artists--he's a musician and I'm a writer--and we have even come together in that aspect as
well, combing poetry and music. I couldn't ask for a better friend or lover :)
Of course what I am worried about are my parents, but they never approve of anything I do
anyway, so I'm going to be happy and in love and enjoy every day of this wonderful
relationship.
My advice to girls who find themselves in love with an older man: go for it! It will probably be
one of the most fulfilling relationships of your life.

I am so happy you wrote this. my fiancee is 53 and I am 25 making a 28 age difference and we
could not be more crazy about each other. Thank you and I hope you stay happy for as long as
you want. I just hope that when mine starts getting older I don't forget how much I loved him
from the start.

Thank you for giving me the confidence to continue my relationship with my boyfriend who is
17 years older than me. We've been dating for almost 2 years and my parents just found out
about us. They are not to happy about it. But I'm hoping that sooner or later they'll come around
and see that he makes me happy and is the best man for me.

Love is a difficult emotion, but it is also the most incredible thing you'll ever feel in life,
Yes the situation may not be ideal, but you only live once life is too short to be thinking 'what if'
?? If your happy and your wanting to be with this man for all the right reasons then follow your
heart!! :)

It's all about trust

So whether you're older and he's younger or the reverse is true, Tessina emphasizes a relationship is
about how well the couple builds trust, partnership and a life together. "It's not age that makes the
difference," she explains. "What counts is how well you two can form a partnership or team that works.
Age difference is an adolescent worry: when you're a teenager, an age difference of ten or more years
makes a vast difference in your experience and your outlook on life."

At that age a significant difference can interfere with communication styles, life goals and relationship
experiences. As we get older, she notes, life experience and emotional growth even things out. "A ten
year or more difference in your ages makes little difference in how well you can conduct your
relationship. As long as you're getting along, have good communication and problem solving skills
and most of all, love each other, Tessina says it's all good. "If you love each other, that's a precious
thing, and far more important than any age difference could be. If other people have a problem with it,
let it be their problem."

Are older men better suited for younger women??

1. More mature
2. More Life experience to share
3. If fit, are more experienced lovers
4. Are more faithful if they have a history of it
5. Often have greater financial stability
6. Are more interested in having a family
7. Have greater confidence and experience
8. Are able to communicate better and maintain a healthy relationship
9. Have had a lot of the bad behavior trained out of them by past women
10.Can help you grow radically in order to catch up with them
11.You will be exposed to so many new things that younger men dont have the finances for or the
maturity (travel, lifestyle, business, nice stuff)

If you love and respect each other,I don't think it's makes a difference at all.
Look at Catherine Zeta Jones. She used to date her own age guys, never happy and she gets this
old guy 3 times her age and she is a happy camper.

So, can these age difference relationships work out? Can they lead to something long-term or
lifelong? The answer is a resounding yes! There are many couples who have been in intimate, long-
term relationships for years; take the Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore age difference as a proven example.
Sometimes, even an age gap of twenty years or more is not an obstacle and many of these age
difference couples have married and raise families.
It is very possible to have a lasting relationship with someone who is younger than you. The first hurdle
is to decide if you can cope with what society says and thinks. If you are able to deal with what people
are going to say, then you are way ahead of the game!
You and your younger partner can focus all of your time and effort into building your relationship and
making it the best that it can possibly be. As long as you enter into an age difference relationship for
all the right reasons, youre giving yourself the best possible chance of things working out successfully
when dating someone much younger than yourself.
