Description
of
Learning
Experience:
classroom. Students will go to my classroom blog and click on flipped classroom. Then students will
listen to the audio of the book, Hop on Pop. After listening to the story with a parent or family member,
then they will find words that rhyme in or around their home. Students will make a list of words and post
them on the blog with their parents help. In class on Monday, I will go to our blog, and we will look at the
words that were found. I will tell the students before they leave on Friday about the activity, and we will
talk about the expectations. It should only take about 25 minutes to complete at home. Parents and students
will be able to see the words.
Students will see that learning is all around us, and they will be able to make connections that are
meaningful to them. We will have a discussion about the words, and students can see their commonalities
and differences. When a student finds two words at home or outside, then his or her parent will ask them
how many phonemes are in each word. We will go over the words and phonemes in class on Monday.
Student
Engagement/Higher-Order
Thinking:
LoTi Level 5
Students engage in higher-level critical thinking skills.
Students use technology productivity tools in authentic ways that connect them to the real world.
Student products involver cooperation and communication outside the classroom.
Importance
of
technology:
Using
Audacity allows students to hear me read them a story with accuracy,
fluency and intonation. If they were not able to hear me reading the story, then they might have a different
experience with the book. Hearing my voice provides a normality of completing work at home for school.
Inspiration (optional): I cant wait to hear the students response to this activity!
