Math 3 Honors Pre-Calc: The Ellipse

What did you grapple with?
I grappled with the simplification problem on the second to last page regarding
how to prove that one equation with the ellipses was equivalent to the other
through formulaic manipulation. I understood most of the content throughout the
process of solving the equations and graphing the coordinates, but I was
completely lost on this part of the assignment. I took a solid guess as to what
the answer could have been, but I am not entirely sure about the accuracy of
my work.
What habit of a mathematician did you use and why?
I used the habit Be Systematic in order to break down these multi-dimensional
problems. Many of the questions would ask for the respondent to solve for
multiple parts, so it was imperative that I stayed on track in terms of consistency
from start to finish. I could also hold myself accountable for making any
unnecessary errors by doing this.
