You pick up the lodge versions of some weapons from Aidaba inside the hunters lodge.
Complete all 15 hunting grounds trials with a perfect score (a
blazing sun) and turn them in at the hunters lodge in Meridian to
pick up the lodge versions of the blast sling, ropecaster and war
bow. Like we said in our quests guide, though, dont expect these
to be superweapons they are only marginally better than the
shadow versions you already have access to.
The Hunters Blind side quest will get you the tearblaster
weapon youll pick up this level 12 quest while following the
hunters lodge storyline. The tearblaster is a one-of-a-kind
weapon that delivers no damage, but will blow armor and
components off of machines. Think of it like a vortex cannon. This
is a great weapon for those machines that have armor plating
over their weak points or have special attacks tied to removable
components.
MAKING ANY WEAPON BETTER
Damage added by modifications is shown in green.
Youll find the side quest (and the armor itself) inside a bunker just
east of the Mothers Rise settlement. Its in an underground cave
near a strider site.
Inside, youll find a locked door that you need to get past, but the
lock is missing parts. Once you get through the locked door, youll
need to unlock the clamps holding the armor in place and the
controls for the clamps are, of course, missing parts as well.
The part you need is probably new to you. Power cells are not an
item you can scavenge or remove from machines (even though
behemoths have a component named power cells these are
different power cells). Youll need to find a total of five two for
the door and three for the clamps to get at the shield-weaver
armor.
GAIA Prime. After you finish exploring the GAIA Prime ruins
and youre returning to Sylens workshop, theres a power
cell in a room that tunnels into the mountain.
When you get all the power cells you need, all thats left is to
install them and enter the combinations to unlock the shield-
weaver armor.

BEST WEAPONS
Grazer
Although they will usually flee when attacked by prowling hunters, grazers
may retaliate and face their foes once they pinpoint them, ramming and using
their antlers while on the offense.
How To Destroy Grazers: The Best Way to kill grazers is to lure them with a
whistle in the tall grass, once close enough you can strike them with one good
strike taking them down.
They also have blaze canisters located on their back similar to striders, you
can also disable their ramming ability by shot the antlers located on
their head.
Stormbird
The Stormbird is a highly mobile flying creature that can rain electric attacks
down from above. While hovering in mid-air, the Stormbird can shoot a Shock
Blast of condensed lightning. The machine is still deadly while perched on the
ground. It can use its peak for a powerful Beak Smash and can leap at Aloy
with its claws. It can also utilize its long tail in a sweeping Tail Lash attack
while grounded.
Special Ability: Thunder Crash While airborne, the Stormbird charges up
electrical energy in a shield around its body. Once fully charged, the machine
performs a dive bomb to the ground, releasing its charge and causing massive
damage near its vicinity.
How To Take Down A Strombird: Using Tear Blast Arrows will remove some
of its armor making it easier to target its Frost cannon on its chest.
It also has Two Weak Spot Canisters on each side of its neck you can target
to deal large amounts of damage.
Shock Bombs can stun the Stormbird giving you destroy the Orange
Canister on its wings to make sure it can fly back into the air.
Ravager
These Creatures have super fast close range attacks and its best to keep your
distance. They also have a cannon mounted on their sides to attack you from
afar, you are able to shot off the cannon you can pick it up and use it yourself.
How To Kill A Ravager: The Ravager has a couple of weaknesses.
WEAK AGAINST FIRE when damaging their body.
WEAK AGAINST ICE when damaging the freeze canisters on the stomach.
WEAK AGAINST SHOCK when damaging the power cylinder on his back.
Freeze Bellowback
These Horizon Zero Dawn Robots are known as Freeze bellowbacks. They
will use frost damage attacks instead fire like their fire counterparts. Frost will
increase the damage you take from other sources, this is one of the main
reasons this monster is difficult to deal with when facing multiple enemies.
How To Kill A Freeze Bellowback: Using FIRE ATTACKS to deal more
damage and be sure to attack the large container on it back whenever
possible. It also has Glands on each side of its head, destroying these will
reduce it overall damage when fighting it.
Fire Bellowback
These Robots known as fire bellowbacks are very dangerous and can do a
large amount of damage. They are best known for shooting fire out that
stretches a long distance.
How To Kill A Fire Bellowback: Using ICE ATTACKS to freeze it will allow
you to take out it cargo sack on it back that powers its flamethrower. It also
has another weak spot located on its Belly/Stomach but is fairly difficult to
reach.
Rockbreaker
The Horizon Zero Dawn Robot Machines Rockbreaker will travel underground
and suddenly pop out to try and damage with its buzzsaws.
How To Kill A Rockbreaker: Freeze Attacks are effective at slowing it down,
allowing to deal damage to its Diggin Arms. It also has a Weak Spot located
on its Belly/Stomach but is slightly difficult to reach.
Behemoth
These Horizon Zero Dawn Robot Machines Behemoths tend to move in pairs
and will require you to be dodge quite a bit when fighting them.
How To Take Down Behemoths: Using Tear Blast Arrows will remove their
armor and allow you to attack the Weak Spots. This Weak Spot is a Yellow
Cylinder located on there Stomach/Underbelly.
Thunderjaw
Corrupted Machines
Horizon Zero Dawn Robots Corrupted Machines are pretty much the exact
same thing you have versed of the regular version, except these corrupted
machine versions are stronger being able to deal and take more damage.
They will also drain your health if you stay near them for too long.
How To Destroy Horizon Zero Dawn Corrupted Machines: Every Corrupted
Machine you came across will be WEAK AGAINST FIRE DAMAGE.
Deathbringer
These Horizon Zero Dawn Machines appear intimidating due to their size and
name. However, once you have learned their weaknesses they are fairly easy
to deal with.
How To Destroy Deathbringer: The Horizon Zero Dawn Robot Deathbringer
is WEAK AGAINST FIRE AND SHOCK DAMAGE. When damaged it will
expose it Orange Weak Spots allowing to to get some good damage on it.
Strider
These are another enemy you will find early on, they can also be hacked
using the override ability.
How To Destroy Striders: The Best Way to Take Down Striders is to shot
the Blaze Canister located on their back.
Watcher
The Horizon Zero Dawn Machines Watchers have the ability to observe and
scan the environment in search for threats. This is a problem since they can
alert other machines nearby, allowing you to be quickly out numbered.
Despite their lack of weaponry, Watchers can attack humans by charging and
tackling them. They also can shot laser beams from their eyes.
How To Destroy Watchers: The best way to fight watchers is
to SHOT the EYE since this is their weak spot.
Red Eye Watcher
The Horizon Zero Dawn Machines Red Eye Watchers have the ability to
observe and scan the environment in search for threats. They are slightly
stronger than their regular counterparts and are a bit more aggressive as well.
How To Fight Red Eye Watchers: The best way to fight the Red Eye Version
of watchers is to SHOT the EYE since this is also their weak spot.
Longleg
These Horizon Zero Dawn Machines Longlegs can stun you with an ability
known as Sonic Blast, the other problem is they also have the ability to call for
reinforcements.
How To Destroy LongLegs: The Best way to deal the most damage to
Longlegs is to attack there Lung Sacks located on their chest. They also
have blue canisters located on their hips that will also deal increased damage.
Armor piercing arrows are also super effective versus these machines.
Glinthawk
Corrupter
Walking on four long legs and displaying a long scorpion-like tail, their
appearance is almost alien compared to other, more organic looking
machines. They also spew grenades from the top of their body, along with
its ability to throw rocks using its tail.
How To Destroy Corrupters: Destroying the Metal Cylinder on top of their
body will reduce the risk when approaching these, also there are VERY
WEAK VERSUS FIRE DAMAGE.
Charger
Like the name suggests these creatures will charge an enemy using
their horns to ram you.
How To Destroy Chargers: Keeping your distance helps a lot while aiming
for there Horns will help limit their ability to ram you.
Trampler
These Horizon Zero Dawn Robots Tramplers will travel in herds aside from
that they are not that difficult to handle.
How To Kill Tramplers: Be sure to shot their Horns to stop them from
ramming you down and staggering you in the process. The Weak Spot for this
beast is located on their belly and is quite easy to attack.
Shell-Walker
These Horizon Zero Dawn Machines can jump and attack with their claws,
and protect themselves with a blue energy shield. Shell walkers carry crates
on their backs and travel in packs to deliver their cargo.
How To Take Down A Shell-Walker: Disabling their claws will reduce a large
amount fo the risk, also it best to sneak up behind them since they are very
slow to begin with.
Stalker
Stalkers are very punishing creature due to their ability to turn invisible and
ambush you when you are least expecting it. Whats even worse is the tend to
leave minds on the ground see keep your eye out for any red beams of light.
How To Destroy Stalkers: Firing Blast Arrow is a great way to disable their
invisibility. Aiming for their Yellow Sections will deal the most damage versus
this creatures.
Broadhead
Tallneck
Not many abilities are known aside the function they play in communications
between machines. Tallnecks are able to temporarily, and involuntarily, stun
machines once a human has gained access to their had dish and seized its
data.
Snapmaw
The Horizon Zero Dawn Machines Snapmaw can cover a lot of distance on
the ground, leaping or charging forward with its powerful jaws. In close
combat, Snapmaws utilize a coolant liquid stored inside their cryo sacs. They
can attack from a distance using a Freeze Burst, shooting super-cooled liquid
that can freeze their opponents.
How To Kill Snapmaw: Using Blast Arrows to remove their armor will help a
lot. They are also WEAK AGAINST FIRE DAMAGE, you can also increase
your fire this damage by attacking theyre the glands underneath their head,
leaving them frostbitten.
The Snapmaw is apparently able to attack Aloy while she is swimming.
Lancehorn
These Horizon Zero Dawn Robots Lancehorn often roam in packs are more
aggressive than their grazer counterparts.
How To Take Down A Lancehorn: Since these lancehorn robots appear in
packs it will best to lure them one by one into tall grass and hack or destroy
them. Setting up Trap Mines is also a good strategy when dealing with many
of them at once.
Sawtooth
The Sawtooth is covered in an Armor plating on the majority of its body, and is
concentrated on its torso.
How To Destroy Sawtooth: The Sawtooth has cannister like most Horizon
Zero Dawn Machines, these, however, are located on his underbelly. Armor
piercing arrows and traps work best versus the sawtooth machines.
Scrapper
They are attracted to destroyed machines similar to the Glinthawk. They also
appear to roam in packs using pounce and laser attack abilities.
How To Kill Scrapper: Using Hard Point Arrows and Shock Weapons are
effective, along with attack their weak spot located on the back.

Main Quests
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 27, 2017 - 4 days 10 hours ago
This page contains the walkthrough index for the main story quests in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the main story in Horizon: Zero Dawn,
including the recommended level for every quest, rewards, and strategies on taking out tough
foes or completing difficult tasks. See the individual pages for video, images, and details on
everything.
Keep in mind that some of these quests cover quite a bit of content, so these recommended
levels are estimates needed to complete them.
Side Quests
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 22, 2017 - 8 days 23 hours ago
This page contains walkthrough information for the many side quests in Horizon:
Zero Dawn and covers everything you need to know, including recommended level,
rewards, locations and strategies.
Side quests in Horizon: Zero Dawn are marked on your map with green exclamation
points. Usually, this indicates a person in need of assistance, and requires multiple
steps to complete. Some of these will only appear on your map only after a certain
event has happened. For example, you won't see The Forgotten until after you have
completed The Womb of the Mountain, and you won't see Ancient Armory until
you've found a Power Cell.
Errands
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 21, 2017 - 9 days 22 hours ago
Errands are similar to Side Quests, only much smaller and generally require only one
task to be done before completion.
A list of all Errands can be found below. Click each one to find more detailed
information.
Hunting Grounds
In order to have access to this quest you need to achieve at least 3 half suns in one
competition. If you complete everything you get the following trophies:
Also if you hand in all of your marks to the weapons dealer in the lodge you get
access to three ultimate gold plated weapons.

Weapons
Horizon: Zero Dawn is full of weapons. They are your tools of destruction against the machine
hordes, and are crucial to your survival.
Below is our list of Weapons that can be found in Horizon. Each one has it's own use, so make
sure to read up on them, so you can find which fits your playstyle best!
Unlocking weapons in Horizon: Zero Dawn is a rather straightforward process. In order to access
better weapons, you simply need to get further in the game. However, when looking to get
weapons, sometimes you won't have the required resources. If you encounter this issue, simply
hit Square while looking at it at the vendor. This will create a Job, and help you gather the
necessary items.
Blue Weapons (Carja Class) will become available once you reach the second area of the game,
commonly known as the Devil's Thirst region. The settlement of Mother's Crown has a vendor
who provides several Carja weapons.
Some early Purple Weapons (Shadow Class) will become available when you reach Daytower.
The rest of the Purple Weapons will be purchasable once you reach Meridian.
Lastly, you can unlock 4 specialty weapons by doing the Hunting Grounds, which are scattered
throughout the map. These weapons are one of a kind, and the best in their category.
Spear
The Spear is your primary melee weapon. It cannot be bought or sold. It can be upgraded
through various Side Quests.
Bows
The bows are the most plentiful weapon in the game. They offer a wide variety of effects, all with
good range and high accuracy.
Rattlers
The rattlers are short range, burst fire weapons. They are designed for close quarters only, as
their accuracy drops off after just a few feet.
Ropecasters
The ropecasters are a form of tether device. They can be used to attach thick cables
to machines, pinning them in place. The bigger the machine, the more shots it will take. Useful
for locking down fast moving foes, or enemies who just won't back off.
Slings
Slings are slow firing weapons that launch bombs at targets. These bombs then detonate
dealing an elemental effect that usually lingers in an area for a short time. Although they deal low
base damage, they often deal very high elemental damage.
Tripcasters
The tripcasters, as the name implies, fired large wires designed to trip the enemy. They must be
fired between two objects, such as trees and when tripped, will detonate causing various effects.
Good for setting up traps with but less practical once a fight begins.
Tearblaster
This is a special weapon that is associated with the Hunting Grounds and can only be obtained
through the quests associated with it. This is a short range weapon that fires compressed air,
ripping off armor plates on nearby machines.
Hunting Grounds
There are a total of 5 Hunting Grounds in the game that work in concert with the Hunter
Lodge Side Quest in Meridian.
In order to have access to this quest you need to achieve at least 3 half suns in one competition.
If you complete everything you get the following trophies:
Also if you hand in all of your marks to the weapons dealer in the lodge you get access to three
ultimate gold plated weapons.
You'll need certain equipment in order to complete every trial at each of the Hunting
Grounds. This chart will give you a summary of what to expect at each.
Valleym
eet
The first hunting ground you find. It has you removing canisters quickly from Grazers, killing them
with logs and using Blast Wires. For each trial don't be afraid to restart if the enemy placement
isn't correct. The most difficult task here is the Blast Wire. Instead of anticipating and covering all
exits wire up one pathway and move the herd with a strategically placed blast from your sling.
For this, you must break off canisters from the robots. This is much easier than it seems, so long
as you buy the Carja Sharpshot Bow.
With this new bow, you can fire a special arrow called the Tearblast Arrow. It explodes, ripping
off parts of machines in an area. Simply fire this arrow onto the back of any of
the machines and it will blow up 3-4 canisters at a time.
Shoot 3-4 of them, and you can easily get the gold medal, long before the timer runs out.
LOGPILE TRIAL
This one requires you to kill the machines with the logpiles scattered around the environment.
You can activate the logpiles by shooting the backs of them. Like the Keeper says, you can force
the herd to move by shooting bombs near them.
This one can be tricky, because even with careful planning, the herd sometimes goes in a
direction you don't want. You can try laying some tripwires to help stun and slow them while they
are under the logpiles. Also keep in mind that the logs take a second to roll down, so break open
the log piles a bit earlier, rather than later.
Due to the slight randomness of the herd, this trial can take a few tries.
BLAST WIRE TRIAL
This last one is fairly similar to the logpile, but much, much easier.
You should have a good idea where the herd runs, since this is the third trial. Set up blast wires
everywhere, just make sure they aren't side by side or else you might waste them.
They are particularly effective in the small canyons, and might even blow up a few machines at
once. Once you have several wires setup, fire a bomb near the herd to make it run and they
should dash right into the wires. Rinse and repeat this process a couple times and you'll easily
snag the 6 necessary kills.
This will include the elemental use of Shock, Fire and Freeze. If you can help it, never try to kill
the Bellowbacks, stick with the Striders and search the area as opposed to wasting time killing
these big bad baddies.
Located in the southern jungle area of the Carja lands. These are some of the easiest trials that
use stealth and speed. If you haven't already, buy the Nora stealth suit and never look back.
This trial simply requires you to get silent kills on Watchers. This shouldn't give you must trouble,
especially if you have both the stealth armor on, and the stealth upgrade from the talent tree.
This will also require some stealth, but also lots of speed. You need to loot 4 crates in :50
seconds. The crates will have machines patrolling nearby. They come in groups of 3, so you'll
have to loot 3 crates, then run to the next group quickly.
We suggest scouting out the crate location first, learn where you can quickly run to all 4, then
reset the trial and do it again. The key is to not alert the Shell-Walkers, or else they will rush over
and try to protect the crates.
This trial requires you to kill 2 Stalkers. That may not be tough normally, but often times the
Stalkers will also have several Watchers with them.
The key here is to kill the Watchers as soon as possible, so you can focus on the Stalkers. Once
you focus on the Stalkers, they aren't so bad. You can blast off their cloaking devices to make
them much easier to spot. Setting them on fire is a good way to deal damage while they run
around. It also helps you spot them easier.
Located in the western plains, these trials are DEADLY! When you are tying down enemies go for
distance and angles. Especially when battling Glinthawks stay on the upper area to make the
pulldowns that much simpler.
Located near Meridian, these trials have you manipulating your overrides and enemy weapons.
A simple process but be advised, you need to complete a certain set of Cauldrons to be able to
overtake Ravagers before you can complete the quest.
This trial can be quite tough. First you must override the two nearby Ravagers. This shouldn't be
too tough, however there is always the chance that you get spotted by the Thunderjaw. Try your
absolute best not to let this happen, but if it does, don't fret. Just ignore him and keep trying to
override the Ravagers.
Once you have the two Ravagers, engage the Thunderjaw. The key to killing him quickly, is to
blast off his face cannons, and the one on his back. This makes him much weaker, and also
allows you to pick them up and dish out huge damage to him. If he's still alive after you shoot him
with his own cannons, then start blasting off his weak points using high Tear weapons. You can
also try using the Ropecaster to pin him to the ground, so your Ravager allies have a better time
of attacking him.
Ropecasters
The Ropecasters are one of the many weapons found in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
These weapons fire thick ropes that help tie down varies machines, pinning them in place.
There are 4 types of Ropecasters in the game.
ROPECASTER
This is the basic Ropecaster (Green variant) and can be purchased after making a bit of progress
into the game. It costs 75 Metal Shards, has 50 handling and 1 mod slot.
The Ropecaster fires thick cables, that help tie down enemies pinning them in place.
CARJA ROPECASTER
This is the Blue variant of the weapon. It's available later in the game, after reaching Daytower
and beyond. It costs 200 Metal Shards and 6 Echo Shell. It has 50 handling and 2 mod slots.
This version doesn't gain any new ammo type. The only improvement is an additional mod slot.
SHADOW ROPECASTER
This is the Purple variant of the weapon. It's available after reaching Meridian and costs 500
Metal Shards and 1 Snapmaw Heart.
This version doesn't gain any stat bonuses, but does gain an additional mod slot.
LODGE ROPECASTER
This is a special variant of the weapon, obtained after completing the Hunting Grounds. It has
70 handling and 3 mod slots.
This version gains no bonuses over the Shadow one, other than some additional handling.
The Bows are the most plentiful weapon in the game. There are 3 main types, with several
upgrades in each tier.
Hunter Bows
This is the basic style of bow. It offers good accuracy and range, but a minimal amount of
damage. Later upgrades allow it to deal more damage, tear off armor and shoot fire arrows.
Sharpshot Bows
These are the snipers of the game. They deal high damage and are very accurate, but take a
long time to draw back an arrow. Later upgrades allow you to fire AoE armor breaking arrows and
arrows that break off machine pieces that contain additional loot.
War Bows
These are primarily used for delivering elementally charged arrows. Later upgrades provide
additional elemental types
Hunter Bows
The Hunter Bow is the main weapon you start with in Horizon: Zero Dawn. It has 3
different versions that you will gain access to as you play the game.
HUNTER BOW
The base version of the bow (Green variant). You start the game with this weapon. It
has 1 mod slot and 80 handling. If sold or lost, it cannot be repurchased.
This weapon fires normal Hunter Arrows. These do low damage, but slightly better
tear damage.
CARJA BOW
The Blue variant of the weapon, it can be purchased after reaching the Mother's
Crown region and beyond. It costs 50 Metal Shards, 5 Sparker and 5 Wire. It has 80
handling and 2 mod slots.
This weapon can shoot normal arrows as well as fire arrows. The Fire Arrows do
miniscule amounts of damage, but a lot of fire damage per shot.
This is the Purple variant of the weapon and can be purchased once you reach the
area of Daytower and beyond. It costs 650 Metal Scrap and 1 Watcher Heart. It has
80 handling and 3 mod slots.
This bow fires the previous two ammo types, as well as a Hard Point Arrow. This is
basically a super charged version of the Hunter Arrow, dealing more damage and
significantly more Tear damage.
War Bows
The War Bows are special bows found in Horizon: Zero Dawn. They fire elemental
arrows that deal special damage to enemy targets. There are 4 types of this bow in
the game.
WAR BOW
This is the Green variant of the weapon and can be purchased after making it
through a few hours of the game for the cost of 100 Metal Shards. It has 50 handling
and 1 mod slot.
This bow fires an electric arrow that deals low base damage but then detonates,
unleashing a wave of electricity.
CARJA WAR BOW
This is the Blue variant of the weapon and can be obtained after reaching Daytower
for the price of 300 Metal Shards, 5 Desert Glass and 2 Slagshine Glass. It has 50
handling and 2 mod slots.
This bow fires a Freeze arrow as well as the Electric one. Both are functionally the
same, dealing low damage but unleashing a large AoE of that particular element.
This is the Purple variant of the weapon and can be obtained in Meridian for the price
of 800 Metal Shards and 1 Trampler Heart. It has 50 handling and 3 mod slots.
This bow fires the two previous types as well as a new Corruption arrow. This arrow
detonates, unleashing a wave of corruption around the target. Any robot who gets
fully corrupted will fight for Aloy for a short time.
LODGE WAR BOW
This is a special version of the bow, obtained after completing the Hunting Grounds.
This bow does slightly more elemental damage per shot, but otherwise is the same
as the Shadow War Bow
Sharpshot Bows
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 16, 2017 - 14 days 20 hours ago
The Sharpshot Bow is a weapon type that can be obtained in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
These bows are long range, high damage weapons ideally used for sniping.
SHARPSHOT BOW
This is the Green variant of the weapon. It can be purchased early on in the game for
105 Metal Shards. It has 20 Handling and 1 mod slot.
This bow fires one arrow type, that deals high base damage as well as a moderate
amount of Tear damage.
This is the Blue variant of the weapon and can be purchased after reaching the
Mother's Crown area and beyond for 210 Metal Shards and 10 Metalburn. It has 20
handling and 2 mod slots.
This bow fires the normal arrow, as well as Tearblast arrows. These arrows stick to a
target, then detonate, dealing massive amounts of Tear damage, ripping off armor
with ease.
SHADOW SHARPSHOT BOW
This is the Purple variant of the weapon and can be purchased after reaching
Daytower and beyond, for the cost of 800 Metal Shards and 1 Sawtooth Heart. It has
20 handling and 3 mod slots.
This bow fire the previous ammo types, as well as a harvest shot. This special arrow
has a decent amount of Tear damage, and any piece it breaks off will yield more
rewards.
Slings
Slings are slow firing, bomb launching weapons. They can be bought early on in the
game and like Bows, there are multiple types, making a total of 9 different Slings in
the game.
SLING
The normal Sling (Green variant). This can be bought early in the game from most
vendors for 70 Metal Shards. It has 1 mod slot and 40 handling.
This version has 1 ammo type, Freeze. Bombs that are launched will build up freeze
damage on whatever target they hit, in a sizeable area of effect.
BLAST SLING
This is the normal Blast Sling (Green variant). This weapon can be bought fairly early
on, for 200 Metal Shards. It has 1 mod slot and 40 handling.
The Blast Sling has 1 ammo type. It fires a sticky bomb, that will stick to any
machine then detonate after 5 seconds, dealing high explosive damage.
CARJA SLING
The Carja Sling is Blue version, and is available from most vendors once you reach
the Devil's Thirst region for the price of 150 Metal Shards and 15 Blaze. It has 2 mod
slots and 40 handling.
This sling has the same previous Freeze ammo, as well as Electric ammo. Both ammo
types deal the same damage, with just different elemental types.
The Carja Blast Sling is the blue variant of the weapon, that is available later in the
game once you've reached Daytower for the price of 400 Metal Shards, 10 Metal
Vessel and 1 Luminous Braiding. It has 2 mod slots and 40 handling.
This sling has the same sticky ammo as before, but also has an impact grenade.
When fired, the new ammo type will explode on impact, dealing damage in a small
AoE.
SHADOW SLING
The Shadow Sling is the purple variant of the weapon. It's available for purchase
once you reach Daytower, for the price of 650 Metal Shards and 1 Crystal Braiding. It
has 3 mod slots and 40 handling.
This sling has the same Freeze and Electric ammo as before, but also adds in Fire
bombs. All three bombs are functionally the same, but explode with a different
element on impact.
This sling fires the same 2 grenade types as before, but also adds in proximity
bombs. These new proximity bombs deal 75 damage, and are triggered once an
enemy gets within range.
This is a specialty sling, only obtainable by completing all of the Hunting Grounds.
The Lodge Blast Sling does the same damage as the Shadow Blast Sling, but has 70
handling instead of 40.
This page collects tips and tricks, strategies, and secrets you need to succeed in
Horizon Zero Dawn, from which weapons you should by to how to kill machines.
Here you will find tips, strategies and advice that applies can be used throughout a
playthrough of Horizon.
This may seem obvious, but sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses - or,
more accurately, stop and collect the life-saving herbs.
The woods, deserts, mountains and jungles of Horizon are full of medicinal plants -
always be sure to grab a few if your healing satchel is running low!
TEMPORARY INVINCIBILITY
When fighting larger bots, make use of the I-frames that occur in the first second of a
dodge/roll.
When you find a new merchant, navigate to the Treasure Boxes section of their sale
menu. Every vendor offers a Free Sample Box with some basic items inside.
Focus on certain types of items - most notably Power Cells or Cryo Cannisters - to do
a massive amount of damage to these dangerous robo-beasts.
SET TRAPS AND TRIPWIRES IN CAULDRONS
When you reach the end of a Cauldron, there's almost always a formidable machine
waiting to be released against you. Before triggering this boss fight, be sure to plant
traps and tripwires all around the creature's enclosure.
This will either cause it to be stunned or damaged as soon as it breaks free, or it will
simply stay inside the makeshift pen, allowing you to pick it off from a distance.
Save at a fire before entering a Cauldron. You may be trapped there with a boss
stronger than you and forced to revert to your outside save.
If you Quicksave before a battle and die, your life will be fully restored along with
any weapons you are holding that were dropped by a machine
(e.g. Thunderjaw or Ravager).
If you die before collecting loot after a big battle, your loot will disappear.
If you fight machines for 30 minutes and die without saving, you will be returned to
the last fire you saved at. Don't let that happen. Autosaves happen in quests,
however.
There are three tiers of weapon: Basic (green), Carja (blue), Shadow (purple). You
can purchase Shadow weapons in the big, central city Meridian fairly early in the
game. Definitely upgrade: This is how you add elemental ammo types like ice
arrows.
Hunter Bow seeming painfully weak? The Shadow Hunter Bow (see above) has
Hardpoint Arrows that do significant damage.
SPAM YOUR FIRE ARROWS
If you encounter a machine with a weakness to fire, pelt it with arrows until it
catches on fire. Suddenly your arrows will do vastly more damage.
Things to Do First
These are the tips you'll want to know before starting and during the first few hours
of your adventure through the post-post-apocalyptic world of Horizon Zero Dawn.
STARTING SKILLS
After completing the tutorial missions A Gift From the Past and Lessons of the Wild,
Aloy will possess three skill points to unlock new abilities with.
BIGGER BAGS
One of the first things you'll want to improve is your carrying capacity. We
specifically recommend focusing on crafting upgrades for your Resource Satchel first,
since this will allow you to carry more items you scavenge from enemies and around
the world.
You'll spend the first few hours of the game in The Expanse - this is the best location
for hunting wildlife and game, since the Machines in this area are less threatening
than anywhere else. After completing the tutorial missions, spend some time hunting
boar, turkey, rabbits, foxes and fish - you'll need their pelts and bones to craft more
elaborate satchels and pouches.
SCAVENGER SKILLS
After leveling up a few more times, you'll want to focus your skill points on
purchasing abilities in the third column of the Forager skill tree.
The Gatherer and Scavenger skills are helpful for crafting, and Disarm Traps is
helpful, too ( being able to collect unused traps and tripwires is a great relief on
resource management). The Tinker ability, however, may be the most important one
in the (later) game, as it allows you to keep modifications when removing them
from weapons and outfits instead of destroying them.
After acquiring a new weapon or ammo type, be sure to enter your Quest menu and
set the newly-added Tutorial quest as active, then complete a single final objective.
For example: That means that you can kill 2 boars out of three, but you'll need to kill
the third one while the quest is active for it to count.
This is a great way to earn bonus XP quickly, helping you power through the early
levels of the game.
Scan every machine you encounter and take note of where their vulnerabilities lie --
and what types of damage will be most effective against them!
Outifts, weapons and special items are cheap in the world of Horizon - don't be
stingy and hold onto every single item that you scavenge early on.
You can trade them to merchants for currency or better items, and if you run out you
can always acquire more.
SHARPSHOT BOW
While you can get through the early stages of the game with only your Hunter Bow
and Tripcaster, make sure to purchase a Carja Sharpshot from the traders past the
Embrace gate.
It's TearBlast arrows will prove invaluable against larger machines - especially
Ravagers, Glinthawks and ThunderJaws.
If you trust your ability to tackle any foe with merely a bow and some tripwires, don't
bother purchasing a Ropecaster from any of the vendors - you'll receive a free one
during the quest Maker's End (though it is several hours into the main storyline).
For a game that contains so many optional tutorials, there's a surprising amount of
information that Horizon Zero Dawn either explains poorly or forgets to tell players
entirely.
Different weapons all require different ammo types. You may say "Well, DUH," but
this also applies to the quality of the various weapons as well. TearBlast arrows, for
example, can only be used with the Carja or Shadow Sharpshot Bow, and while the
basic Tripcaster can use shock tripwires, only the Shadow version can utilize flaming
ones.
Be sure you examine what ammo types a weapon is able to fire before purchasing.
Much like in other large open world titles, when Aloy overrides a Strider, Broadhead
or Charger to use as a mount, they will attempt to follow the path of whatever
roadway they're traveling on, without players having to steer them along.
All players are responsible for is maintaining speed and defending against / avoiding
nearby enemies.
NPCS KEEP PACE
When in a quest or activity that requires you to travel on foot with an NPC, you can
walk, run or sprint at whatever speed you like - the other characters traveling with
you will move at your pace.
Aloy can learn to override new, more powerful machines throughout the world by
venturing into Cauldrons and hacking into their power core. These dungeon-like
subterranean chambers are usually occupied by Watchers (and some larger
creatures) and have a more dangerous machine guarding their core.
While there is a side quest that leads Aloy to her first Cauldron, it's easy to bypass if
you aren't engaging in every optional mission you encounter.
FAST TRAVEL
Aloy can fast-travel between campsites that she's discovered, but doing so uses 1
Fast-Travel Pack.
These resources can be purchased or crafted from resources, and there are vendors
in Meridian and other large settlements who possess Golden Fast Travel Packs, which
allow for unlimited fast traveling.
While exploring caverns, bunkers and abandoned buildings of the Old Ones, Aloy will
occasionally encounter doors blocked by rock formations.
She can destroy these stalagmites and stalactites with her spear to gain access to
these closed-off areas.
Each stack of ammunition, whether you're crafting two or 12 individual arrows, costs
the same amount of resources. So if you've got 37/40 arrows, it's not worth wasting
the 10 Metal Shards required to craft an ammo pack that will only yield two arrows.
This page contains the hidden Power Cell locations in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Horizon Zero Dawn - All Power Cell Locations - Best Way to Play
03:44
Finding these items and completing the side quest Ancient Armory will unlock the
powerful Shield Weaver armor, which renders Aloy nearly invincible for a time while
wearing it. The power cells are presented below in the chronological order they can
be obtained in during the main quest line.
Pry open the door ahead of you and move through the offices to head back upstairs.
At the top of the steps youll find a room with a doorway blocked by rock formations
on your right - use your spear to smash through the rocks and collect the power cell
off the desk.
Next to the locked door is an open ventilation duct - move through it to enter the
room beyond the door and collect a Power Cell.
If you did not collect the Power Cell during the quest you can return to Mother's
Watch at night to get back into the All-Mother Temple. If you go during the day the
gate will be locked. NOTE: If you fast travel to Mother's Watch you'll need to
walk/run to, and over, the bridge outside of town before the gate will open.
Once the lock has been opened, youll find this power cell lying on the ground on the
other side of the door.
Before following your objective marker to the right, turn left and walk north. Climb up
the rubble ahead of you and head into the blue-lit cave ahead of you.
On a shelf in the back room youll find the final power cell.
Collectibles
This page is dedicated to helping you find all the Collectibles in Horizon: Zero
Dawn.

Banuk Relics
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 13, 2017 - 17 days 19 hours ago
The Banuk Relics are very rare Collectibles scattered around the map. Like many
others, you can purchase a map from certain vendors to get a general idea of where
they are.
Set 1 - Banuk 1
When you get to the base of the mountain, you'll see various paintings on the rock.
They will show you where to roughly climb, so follow them to the top and you'll soon
have your item.
Set 1 - Banuk 2
Next, climb up the wall until you are on your feet again. Run past the zip line and into
the mountains and continue climbing up. You will have a long climbing section as it
takes you up, then all the way around the mountain side. Eventually the climbing
ends with you standing beside the Banuk.
Set 2 - Banuk 1
There will be several jumps involved, and a lot of climbing but eventually it ends with
you getting the Banuk near the top of the cliff.
Set 2 - Banuk 2
When you get closed to it, you will see a rope. Jump down to the end of the rope
that's near the cliff you are walking along, then simply walk along the rope to the
Banuk. This saves you from having to climb up to get it.
Set 3 - Banuk 1
From here, start climbing up the nearby wall. At the top, turn and climb up the right
stone pillar. Once at the top, jump across the gap, then continue following the now
simple path until you reach the Banuk.
Set 3 - Banuk 2
This Banuk is located in the northern part of the map, South from Pitchcliff.
The beginning of this starts near these rocks.
Walk forward from here, and start climbing the cliff near all the other markings.
Climb up and to the right, and you'll quickly find the Banuk.

Metal Flowers
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 24, 2017 - 6 days 23 hours ago
The Metal Flowers are one of the many Collectibles found in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Below is a list of all the Metal Flowers and where you can find them.
Set 1
Head there as an adult, and go all the way back to where Aloy first picked up the
holographic display piece. There is a nearby doorway that is blocked off by
stalagmites. Smash through them and inside you will find this Metal Flower.
The second flower is located in the bottom-left of the map, in the first area of the
game.
The flower is up the mountain a bit, requiring some climbing and rope sliding to
reach.
Found in the second area of the game, just a bit North of Main Embrace Gate.
This flower is up on a hill, behind the destroyed house.
This flower is located in the East side of the Devil's Thirst area.
Along the western border of Devil's Thirst, you will find this flower tucked behind
some ruined walls.
Found in the second area of the game, inside the ruins near Mother's Rise.
Find the entrance to the ruins among the hills, then jump into the water. The Metal
Flower is just a short swim away.
It's near the South section of Devil's Grief. The flower is located directly beneath the
icon on the map, making it easy to find.
This flower is located at the far north of the map, near The Grave Hoard.
This flower is located right along the path towards the Grave Hoard, between the
path and the river.
This flower is located along the main path that leads to Daytower.
As you follow the path, look North towards the mountains. There will be a small tree
and the metal flower tucked behind some rocks.
Set 2
North of Dawn's Sentinel and South-East of Free Heap, you will find this flower tucked
in the hills, guarded by several Scrappers.
METAL FLOWER - MARK 2 (B)
Far to the North-East of Daytowere, on the other side of the mountain, you will find a
river with Snapmaws in it. They guard a small island with the flower on it.
You can find this by following the path North out of town. It's sitting along the left of
the path, where the path branches left.
In the mountains North of Sunfall. Climb up from the northern side, and you will find
the flower at the top, guarded by Glinthawks.
METAL FLOWER - MARK 2 (E)
It's guarded by two Thunderjaws, and can be found sitting just a few steps North of
the small ponds located in the area.
Far South of Pitchcliff, you can find this flower sitting atop some rocky outcroppings,
just south of the river.
Far to the North, even North of Pitchcliff. You can find this flower sitting on a cliff,
guarded by a Stormbird.
METAL FLOWER - MARK 2 (H)
You can find this flower tucked in a canyon on the far western edge of the map,
beneath Sunfall.
South-West of Dimmed Bones, on the raised up stone, you will find this flower. You'll
likely draw the attention of some Glinthawks along the way.
You can find this to the West of the Brightmarket settlement. It's sitting at water
level, at the very edge of the land.
Set 3
To the far South-East of Meridian, you can find this flower sitting right on the path
that's within the circle.
You can find this sitting atop the cliffs, far East of Meridian. It's guarded by some
Glinthawks.
It's located near a cauldron. Follow the path, then look for the flower near the water,
where the path branches off towards some Freeze Bellowbacks.
Head to the marked location, and you will see the flower sitting right beside the road
that leads East-West.
Located south of Lone Light and East of the Gatelands Bandit Camp. The flower sits
on the edge of the water.
You will find this sitting atop a small cliff. Climb up then cross the rope to reach it.

Datapoints
EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 17, 2017 - 13 days 20 hours ago
The datapoints represent one of the many Collectibles found in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Each one you collect unlocks a new tidbit of lore, filling in gaps in the story of the old
world.
NOTE: This is a work in progress. Notice any points missing that you have? Feel free
to add them in, and share with the community!

Its called Compiling All Datapoints by Tokbirn! It was a group effort but he
organized all locations. There aren't images, but there is specific descriptions of
all datapoint locations. Especially the Text-World ones!

Which text datapoint are you missing? I have all of the datapoints, other than
World Datapoints and Glyphs. I'm missing something like 4 Glyphs. I can tell you
where to find the rest

Remember the mission when you talk to Erend about his sister and Dervahl? In
the camp you go to, looking for Dervahl, in his tent is a crate with the audio

Text Datapoints for machines: 1-4 are all from Tallnecks and the last five are
from cauldrons. I'm still not sure where to get #5, as I've completed all of the two
other sources. The last 4 hologram points are all gotten through the story, and if
you explore in All-Mother a lot there are some in there. There are also a lot of
data points scattered throughout the ruins after you meet Sylens at his old
workshop, as well as in his workshop. Also, easy one to miss: when you're in the
ruin after you're spoken to by General Herres you'll be led into another room
where Sobeck is going to "explain the rest". If I'm not mistaken, in this room
there is a way to climb the wall in front and to your right a bit. There's an audio
log there. There are also other logs in the room so check around a bit.

@ArchangeLillith I thought I didn't get the fifth text datapoint - machine because
I somehow finished a tallneck inappropriately (i.e. didn't rappel down)? Seems to
be not the case? Or did you actually face a similar issue then. I thought that was
a bug in the game. It can only be from a tallneck, right? Otherwise it would look
quite weird...

@ArchangeLillith Have you solved the problem with the 5 Datapoint machines?
I passed all the Tallnecks and collected all the other entries, I can not figure out
how to get the 5-point.

Stranded Items
This page contains the locations of the Stranded collectibles in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Stranded Necklace
This item can be found during the mission The Grave Hoard, before using the guide
rail to descend into the bunker.
After clearing the area of Shadow Carja and Corrupted Machines, head around back
of the tank to the left of the path leading down into the bunker to find the Stranded
Necklace on a withered skeleton.
Stranded Shackles
The Stranded Shackles can be found during the quest Deep Secrets of the Earth, or
by traveling back to the Zero Dawn Bunker after completing this mission.
From the room where you received your second holographic briefing, head through
the door into the next room. Follow the path to the left of the security booth and into
the room beyond.
Move through the door at the end of the small office on your right and turn to the left
- on the far end of the room you'll find the shackles.
Stranded Figure
This item can be found in the All-Mother bunker, Eleuthia-9 during the quest Heart of
the Nora (or by returning later).
When you first enter the bunker, head through the lobby and down the stairs beyond
the door. Before proceeding down the hall, turn around to retrieve the figure from
beneath the staircase.
Rewards
The Stranded items can be turned into the Mysterious Boxes merchant in Meridian,
the City of the Sun.
While visiting this merchant, you can trade in your Stranded Necklance, Stranded
Shackles and Stranded Figure for a Mysterious Box, inside of which you'll find a Very
Rare item modification, a few other trinkets and a pair of Warm Socks. It's currently
unknown whether or not the Warm Socks have a hidden meaning or function - their
only described purpose is for selling to merchants. However, this being a Kojima
easter egg, it may be a good idea to hang onto them for a while.
Vantages
This page contains all of the Vantage locations in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
There are 12 Vantage Caches to access in total, broken into three sets of four. They
are presented below in the order of their respective sets.
The first vantage can be found across the river to the east of the main gate of The
Embrace. There is a large rock formation to the north of a a small group of ruins that
make up a Corrupted Zone.
Climb the rocks on the east side of the overlook to reach the Vantage.
Colorado Springs
This Vantage can be found just north of the Tallneck in Devils Thirst, up in the
remains of the areas tallest building. Approaching from the south, follow the climb
path up into the building (near the north-west corner of the Tallnecks loop) and
make your way upwards.
Climb through the towers skeleton to find the vantage on a ledge facing West.
Explorer Museum
Following the road to the north of the Devils Thirst Bandit Camp - not the landmark,
but the camp - you can find this Vantage on top of a small pillar of rocks looking back
towards the encampment.
Climb the rock face then up over the two smaller rock walls on your right to find the
vantage.
Eagle Canyon
At the base of the steps leading from the Cut Cliffs settlement down to Meridian
Gate, there is a climb path on the rocky face along the western side of the trail.
Look for it beneath a grapple branch, then climb the cliffside up to the rappelling
point to find the Vantage.
Monument Valley
Facing the gates of Sunstone, in the south-west corner of the map, head to the edge
of a large rock formation near the eastern path to the city.
Follow the climb path up the rock face, then use the zipline to head back down
towards the path and find the vantage on the landing.
Bryce Orbital
Heading up the base of the path east of Sunfall leading north towards Makers end,
head towards the rock formations on your left.
Make your way up the climbable path, then cross the short plateau at the top and
continue to climb along the wall. When you reach the end of this second climb path,
youll need to take out two scrappers.
Once theyve been dealt with, the Vantage can be found overlooking Sunfall.
Lake Powell
Across the river to the north of Brightmarket, make your way along the shore (or
climb down from the northern plateau above)
Use the tightrope to make your way out to the free-standing rock formation, then
climb the side up to the top to locate the Vantage.
In the wooded mountains to the south of Makers End, near a Shell-Walker feeding
area, make your way up into to rocky snowy foothills of the mountaintop. Beware of
Scrappers and Ravagers, and find a large chunk of dark grey stone protruding from
the mountainside on your right.
Climb your way up and around this old structure, then collect the Vantage from the
top overlooking Makers End.
Kings Peak
This Vantage can be found in the area where you fight the Stormbird on your way to
meet Sylens in The Mountain That Fell, near the end of the main questline. After
climbing up the side of the waterfall, there is a climbable section of rocks ahead of
you on the left.
Climb up and around the cliffs to find the Vantage looking towards GAIA Prime.
Sterling-Malkeet Amphitheater
In the rocky hills to the west of Devils Grief, across the thin river, youll find an open
area between two large rock formations (this is also a Corrupted Zone).
Theres a natural set of steps running up between the rocks - follow it towards the
top and beneath the southern cliff face youll find this Vantage.
Denver Stadium
At the eastern edge of Devils Grief sits the twisted remains of a massive skyscraper
- just to the south of the Iron Ring encampment you invade in the Main
Quest Revenge of the Nora.
From inside the base of this building, use the climb path to reach the open ledge high
in the north-west corner of the building, overlooking the Iron Ring.

EDIT PAGE Last Edit: March 22, 2017 - 8 days 23 hours ago
There are three types of traps that can be crafted in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
SHOCK TRAP
A proximity based trap, that does no damage but stuns all those caught in it's
blast. Crafting Requirements:
2 Wire
1 Metal Vessel
10 Sparker

Crafting Requirements:
2 Wire
1 Metal Vessel
3 Blaze
BLAST TRAP
A proximity based trap, this will explode on enemies, dealing a decent amount of damage to
anyone caught in it. Crafting Requirements:
2 Wire
1 Metal Vessel
2 Blaze
Tripcasters
The Tripcasters are, as the name implies, a series of weapons designed to trip your
enemies. They fire a large wire that you must attach to two objects. When an enemy
walks through the wire, they will be heavily damaged.
TRIPCASTER
This is the Green version of the weapon. It can be bought from nearly any merchant
for 90 Metal Shards. It has 1 mod slot and 30 handling.
This is the Blue version of the weapon. It can be bought from merchants after you
reach the Mother's Crown area for 180 Metal Shards and 10 Chillwater. It has 2 mod
slots and 30 handling.
This weapon has the same electrical trip wires as before, but also unlocks Explosive
Wires, which deal high amounts of non-elemental damage.
SHADOW TRIPCASTER
This is the Purple version of the weapon. It can be bought from merchants after you
reach Daytower for 800 Metal Shards and 1 Scrapper Heart. It has 3 mod slots and
has 30 handling.
This weapon has the same previous two ammo types, but also unlocks the Fire Wire,
which deals a high amount of fire damage when tripped.
Tearblaster
The Tearblaster is a special weapon that is obtained during the Hunter's Blind Side
Quest in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
As you complete the Hunting Grounds you will unlock the quest. Once finished, you
receive a treasure box containing this weapon.
The Tearblaster is a short range gun that fires bursts of compressed air. It rips of the
armor plates of machines that are very close to you. It deals virtually no damage, so
use it only to rip off armor.
Weapon Modifications
Weapon Mods are obtained all throughout the game, from many various enemies
and areas.
There are three classifications. Green, Blue and Purple, with Purple being the best.
Not only are there three types, but each mod you find has randomly generated stats,
making each one slightly different.
Have a lot of extra mods? Sell them! They go for good money and a lot of the Green
and Blue mods aren't worth holding on to as you get further in the game.
Once you have a mod, you can put it inside a weapon to bolster it. When using them,
it's best to increase the highest stat, instead of bringing up the lowest. For instance,
the Hunter Bow is a great Fire and Tear weapon, so increasing these two stats on it
makes more sense then Damage or Handling.
Once placed, a Weapon Mod cannot be removed, unless you have a specific talent
from the bottom of the skill tree. Until you have this talent, we suggest only placing
in Mods that you are certain about, as there's a chance you might never get it back!
Ropecasters
The Ropecasters are one of the many weapons found in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
These weapons fire thick ropes that help tie down varies machines, pinning them in
place. There are 4 types of Ropecasters in the game.
ROPECASTER
This is the basic Ropecaster (Green variant) and can be purchased after making a bit
of progress into the game. It costs 75 Metal Shards, has 50 handling and 1 mod slot.
The Ropecaster fires thick cables, that help tie down enemies pinning them in place.
CARJA ROPECASTER
This is the Blue variant of the weapon. It's available later in the game, after reaching
Daytower and beyond. It costs 200 Metal Shards and 6 Echo Shell. It has 50 handling
and 2 mod slots.
This version doesn't gain any new ammo type. The only improvement is an
additional mod slot.
SHADOW ROPECASTER
This is the Purple variant of the weapon. It's available after reaching Meridian and
costs 500 Metal Shards and 1 Snapmaw Heart.
This version doesn't gain any stat bonuses, but does gain an additional mod slot.
LODGE ROPECASTER
This is a special variant of the weapon, obtained after completing the Hunting
Grounds. It has 70 handling and 3 mod slots.
This version gains no bonuses over the Shadow one, other than some additional
handling.
