Research Proposal Summary:

For my research project the topic I chose will have me looking at two of the main schooling
options available for high school ages and under. Specifically I will endeavor to look at the different
positives and negatives in the schooling patterns in relation to children who are introverts. The question I
would like to answer with this paper would be something like this: Which of these two pre-college
schooling options (public school vs. homeschool) better suits the personality of introverted people? Or is
the personality of the student not an influential factor in their ability to learn in these two different
environments? In my opinion this topic is relevant in our society for many reasons. First, homeschooling
and public schooling are natural adversaries, with people on both sides of the coin fearing the other
option, so any effort to present both option in an equal light will reduce some of that prejudice. Secondly,
although I do not have the time to do it here, this topic could easily be turned into a study of all the
personality types and the two types of schooling could be compared and contrasted to see which fits
which personality type best. Then with the finding of studies like that, we could as a society endeavor to
improve public school system and possibly tailor it to fit a wider range of student personality types. Or
perhaps parents in our society will read the results of these studies and be more open to the different
schooling options available to their children. A possible end to this paper that wouldnt answer my
question could be that it all depends on the student to teacher communications and whether or not the
teacher understands the learning types of their students But still I believe this subject will be fun to
learn about.
