6. RESPONSIBILITIES / SUPERVISION
1. Project Manager will have the overall responsibility of the Project for execution,
quality and safety. Also he will maintain the planning progress and coordination of
works with main contractor.
2. Project Senior Mechanical Engineer / Site Mechanical Engineer will be responsible
for the day to day activities on site, for materials, drawings, testing &
commissioning and allocation of Departmental resources to work areas on Site.
The Project Senior Mechanical Engineer will report to the Project Manager.
3. Supervisor will be directly responsible for the day-to-day job on site, for handling
the technicians or any other staff assign to his area.
4. QA/QC Department will be overseeing all the quality

5. Safety Officer will be responsible for the Health and
6. Safety aspects on site as per the Main Contractor and Safety

7. EQUIPMENT USED

8. INSPECTION
1. Inspection requests along with checklist shall be raised to the consultant and to be
conducted in presence of main contractor.

9. PREPARATION WORK
Before commencing the testing and commissioning of submersible pump set the
Following shall be carried out:-
1. Check that the drawings are approved.
2. Check work area is clean and safe for work.
3. Ensure installation work is undertaken only by trained and experienced personnel.
4. To make sure the installation of submersible pumps, pipes,
5. Supports and accessories are correct.
6. To make sure of electrical connection are correct and verify the correct rotation of
pump.
7. To make sure of desired levels of the level switches installed.
8. To make sure that the Isolating Valve and other outlets are open.
9. Prepare the required instruments (should be calibrated) to make the
measurements.
10. Fill the water in sump pit to the desired level as set up the pumps, and also
make provision to add more Water if required.
10. TESTING AND COMMISSIONING
1. Run the pumps in auto mode and check the flow to retardant chamber is correct.
Take the ampere reading, voltage reading and check the sequence of pumps
operation.
2. Check the cut in/cut out and high alarm performance of the level switches.
3. Run the pumps for a minimum period of 30-45 minutes.
4. Restart the pumps after a short break and repeat the above steps to confirm the
performance.
5. Test report to be submitted upon completion of testing & commissioning for
engineer approval.

11. Health, Safety & Environment.


11.1. Health
1. Implementation of Health & Safety mechanisms and checks as per Contract
Agreement. The responsible Safety Officer for each building will conduct routine
safety inspections.
2. Good housekeeping must be maintained throughout the execution of work.
3. The work location must be gas free and precautions must be taken to prevent
ignition of flammable materials.

11.2. Safety
1. Only qualified personnel will be deployed to perform the work.
2. All personnel protection equipments (PPE) shall be worn during the work. The
generally used PPE are Coverall, Safety shoes, Hard Hat, Safety glasses, dust
mask and Hand gloves.
3. Material Safety Data Sheets for the materials used shall be followed.
4. Safety Lighting.
5. Adequate lighting will be provided ensuring the good illumination of the working
area. Task lighting will be connected to the nearest site distribution board which is
RCD protected
6. Safety lights will be used in case of power failure ensuring the good illumination of
the working area for safe evacuation of the site.

11.3. Environmental Considerations


1. After the finalization of the works the working area should be cleaned from any
scrap materials related to the performed work.
2. Working places will be cleaned from the scarp materials derived from their work
ensuring clean and healthy work environment as well as to maintain free access
and egress in the event of emergency.

11.4. Emergency arrangements.


1. General: Site general safety procedures will be followed. In case of emergency the
Safety Officer will stop the work; he will put into action the emergency
arrangements and report to assembly points as indicated during Site Induction
Course.
2. Fire Precautions: No significant fire risk associated with this activity but general fire
prevention measures will be taken as per contract.
3. Communication: Communication from work areas to Site Office via mobile phones
issued to senior foremen. In emergency situations the users of hand-held 2-way
radios to be notified if deemed that this can speed up notification of relevant
personnel and/or the Site Clinic.
