Growth Mindset

Today, everyone knows the importance of attending the University or College with the

goal of acquiring new knowledge, job opportunities and successful lives. Unfortunately,

many people who have dreams like us have decided to leave their school for a few reasons. In

general, the most common problem that disturbs students' goal is their mentality. This

mentality is called fixed mentality. This kind of mentality is not right for students' minds,

because it does not allow them to be a prosperous person. On the other hand, the growth

mentality helps us to keep fighting in our dreams. For this reason all students must have this

type of mentality to achieve their dreams. Definitely, all students have some problems when

they attend the school. Those problems could be lack of understanding in the classes, lack of

interest to learn, lack of responsibility, and so forth. But the students who have more

obstacles in their path are foreign students. They must work harder than domestic students,

because they do not domain the national language. In Addition, they must adapt to another

type of society and different culture that often makes them to abandon their goals in another

country. There are many reasons why foreign students like me need to know the importance

of having a growth mindset in order to reach our goal.

First reason, the foreign students should know the importance of growth mentality,

because they do not domain the language perfectly as the national students. Clearly, this one

of the reason why the students sometimes opt to abandon their school. For this reason foreign

students have to work harder in order to get good results to match the outcome of the other

students. The hard work is the only key to become a success person in the future. Therefore,

the foreign students should implement growth mindsets in everything they do to achieve

everything they want. For instance, in the article Brainology Transforming Students

Motivation to Learn written by Carol S. Dweck. The author comments the students with the

growth mindset believe in to hard work, because if you work hard you can reach your

objectives. Also, they believe about the ability to grow and that all geniuses have had to work

hard for their achievements. For this obvious reason the students might think that is a good

idea to have a growth mentality. if they work hard in everything they do their rewards could

be to have a lot of achievements in their life. Also, this kind of mentality with the past of the

time becomes a habit in their life.

Next, the determination is part of growth mindsets. That is why; foreign students

should know that the determination is very important. The determination is the power of

perseverance. Plus, if you do not have determination in your life, you could not be a

successful person. The foreign student must be determinant in their adaptation in a different

country. Sometimes they can feel that their projects are not giving results .But they should be

aware and they do not give up their project because the good result will come soon.

According to conference of TED by Angela Lee Duckworth the people who have more

determination have a fruitful future, in contrast, people who do not have determination. Plus,

the people who are determinate work really hard to make that future a reality. On the other

hand, Duckworth mentions in the conference that if we have skills but we do not have

determination we could not achieve our target. For instance, a foreign students could not have

the resemble abilities at domestic students in the aspect of the regional language. But if the

foreign student has determination her or his dream will come true. In the other words,

determination is an essential part of a mentality in order for people to be successful. For this

reason the foreign students and we must practice this new idea about determination.

Third, the students must know that learn of their mistakes is part of the growth

mindsets. They should not be afraid to do mistakes because they could learn a lot of things of

them. In addition, those errors could help the students know which mistakes they did with

order to do not commit it again. To learn of their mistakes is without doubt a clear example

for foreign students who enroll in college, and do not speak the language to perfection. They

should not be afraid to make mistakes when they are speaking because practice will help

them and learn from their mistakes. Plus, the practice going to help them to refine the

language that they do not domain. In accordance with Carol S. Dweck who wrote Brainology

Transforming Students' Motivation to Learn. The author tells us that people have a growth

mindset as challenges to learn new things. In addition, they are not afraid to make mistakes,

because they are willing to fail, to be wrong, to start over with the lessons learned. For this

reason is obvious that making mistakes is something that helps foreign students as they

acquire knowledge and experience.

Finally, citing the article by Carol Dweck Brainlogy Transform students motivation to

Learn. The author tells us that people who have growth mentalities are not conformists. They

usually want to learn new stuffs. That is why they do not be afraid to fail when they are

searching to learn new concepts. Plus, they like to be in difficult situations because they are

proving their knowledge. This kind of people has a very different perspective than people

who are conformists. The people who are conformist are intelligent but they do not like to

scape of the comfort zone. For this logical reason the foreign students should change the way

to view the things and opt for the growth mentally with order to be fruitful person.

In conclusion, it is clear that exist two types of mentality and those are growth

mindset and fixed mindset. Both mindsets have a really power in everything the people do or

in the perspective to view the things. Certainly the fixed mentality is not recommendable for

students and people. This mentality can affect students not to know their true potential or

qualities they have to carry out activities. This way, they cannot achieve their goals and it will

affect them for their whole life. Unlike the fixed mentality the growth mentality is correct.

This kind of mentally usually helps too much the people or students. They have a different

perspective about be a successful person. In addition, they are optimistic and they like to

work hard. Besides, this type of mentality can make all your goals, dreams, goals become

reality. Undoubtedly, the mindset growth is better than fixed mindset. Nowadays, students

should know the importance of having a growth mindset or should exist some programs that

inculcate the importance of growth mindset, because this information is limited for students.

Definitely, the growth mentality is a human tool for success.
