Class Reflection

As a teacher, I would like for all my students to pass their test with a 70% or higher. Based
on the analysis, some of students need additional help when it comes to adding, dividing, and
subtracting. About 38% of my students scored in or below the 50s; in addition to the three students
who scored in the 60s, a little over half of my class failed the math test. Only 31% of my students
answered question 5 and question 11 correctly. Question 5 was a division question, and question 11
was a subtraction question. Majority of the questions that received a 60%-69% correct response
were division questions. This information lets me know that I need to spend more instructional time
on division.

Five of my students received an 80 or higher on the math test. Juan received a 100, and
Cody received a 93. Based on Juans grade I know that he is doing well in al1 three of the tested
math areas. Cody answered all of the subtraction questions correctly, and he only missed one of the
addition questions, which is why he scored a 93. Three other students who all received an 80 were
Hugh, Jack, and Jamal. Hugh answered all of the addition questions correctly, while Jamal
answered all of the subtraction questions correctly. Jack answered 80 % correctly both the addition
and subtraction problems.

The six students who received a score in the 60s or below were Luke, Nathan, Molly,
Patrick, Sarah, and Claire. Luke received the lowest test score in the class. He answered 40%
correctly both the addition and subtraction problems. Nathan scored the second lowest score with a
47%. He answered 60% of the addition problems correctly, and he answered 20% of the subtraction
problems correctly. Molly, Patrick, Sarah, and Claire received a 53% on the math test, and all four
of the students answered more addition problems correctly than subtraction problems. Not only do I
need to spend more time teaching division, but I also need to spend more time teaching subtraction.
