Abstract
Laboratory management is concerned with the provision of materials for laboratory
work maintenance and preparing equipment and the proper organization of the
laboratory and auxiliary services.
The laboratory management inventory system in DMU uses manual process system.
When customers need to borrow and store an item and return the borrowed item
they must go to the office and record what they want manually, thats way it is
making the process too late. Which requires the administrator to use paper based
recording files to know the status of each customer and to perform the process in
the system. Therefore, we proposed to do such works to be automated.
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background and rationale of the study
Managing inventory in the lab can be a big task. controlling inventory is one of the
most important things you can do to make everything run smoothly. Monitoring
consumable supplies, reagents, lab equipment and instruments can be a big task.
But doing so efficiently will increase productivity and reduce costs. A
management inventory system is simply tracking products and supplies in an
organizations. Today in the technological world these systems done by
automatically.

Although, DMU Electrical and computer engineering laboratory works with these
system in manually. Such work is time consuming and administrators are not fully
thrust the consumers whether they return the laboratory equipments that they
borrow or not. Therefore, we are proposed the project to design electrical and
computer engineering in DMU laboratory management inventory system to be
computerized. The proposed project focused on recording and updating the data. It
is also generate a report in the system which will help the user to check the status
of the equipment and component in laboratory. This project provides facilities like
store laboratory equipment, record the withdrawal and rental equipments.

1.2 Statement of problem

For the manual inventory system, it takes time for tracking the status of
equipment, the data listing sometimes not accurately been inserted. Usually
when the administration wanted to check the equipment and
component, the technicians and staffs needed to check their files first. Every
movement and condition of equipment will be listed out. It is difficult to track down
the improperly equipment status.

Our proposed electrical and computer engineering laboratory management

inventory system that attempts to replace the manual system to be a systematic
and automated management inventory system.

1.3 Objectives of the study

General objective
The main objective of our project is to easily control the management of
Debre Markos University electrical and computer engineering laboratory
equipments.

Specific objective
In Order to achieve the general objective, the following specific objectives are need.

Understand Manual process

The system can record any new item issue requested items with appropriate
specification and category.

To generates up to date report at any time

To store laboratory equipments

To make our design response for the requisite

Each tasks are performed easily

Change the manual system of the organization to computerized system

Reduce unnecessary resource wastage.

Can perform many tasks in short period of time

2 Literature Review
This section describes some of the related systems which were designed by other
researchers.

International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), India Online ISSN: 2319-7064,
this project will be developed using PHP (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor), Adobe
Dreamw eaver S3 linking with database that using SQL (Structured Query
Language) as the language or instruction of the system to make it as a standalone
system .

3. Methodology
The methodologies we follow in this project work is as follows:

Data collection and Observation for the procedure.

Analysis of data collection in the procedure.
Selection of proper tools and program
Developing of the system or writing codes
Evaluation and testing of the developed system
Reporting and documentation
 Requirements:
XAMPP: is the most popular PHP development environment and the
place which link to the database.
Adobe Dreamweaver CC: is a development tool for creating,
publishing, and managing websites.

Language selection
The language that we will use in our project
HTML: is a language which used to create electronic documents (called
pages).
CSS: is a language that describes the styles of an html documents.
PHP: is a server scripting language
JavaScript: - JavaScript is very interesting language used to validate
data and develop different messages.
