Thisisacontinuationofalessononthebasicsofeconomicstheclasshasalreadydonesomework
withthevocabularyrelatedtothistopic(scarcity,choice,andopportunitycosts).Mylessonwillbea
shortgameforthestudentstoworkwiththematerialtheyhavealreadylearnedbeforetheymoveonto
thenexttopics,andbeforetheytest.

Whatwentwellformewasthatthegroupsworkedwelltogether,andoncetheygotstartedtheyreally
seemedtoenjoythegame.Ididnotshoutwhentheclassgotloud,andIwastryingtogivedirections
butIdidraisemyvoice;IfoundthatwhenIloweredmyvoicetogettheirattention,itworked
immediately(aswassuggestedinourclass).
3 Whatcouldhavegonebetter?Whatwouldyoudodifferentlyifyouhadasecond
opportunitytoteachthelesson?
Whatcouldhavegonebetterwasmyintroductionandorganizationofthedirections.MyCTlater
suggestedthatIgothroughallofthedirectionsontheslide,askforquestions,andthengooverthe
directionsagaintobedoublysure.IwouldusethisadviceifIhadasecondopportunitytoteachthe
lesson.Iwouldalsohaveadjustedthetimingforthetablerotations;thegroupsdidnotalwaysneeda
full3minutestomakedecisions.AnotherpointIcoulddodifferentlywouldbetopresentthetablesto
thestudentsbeforetheystartthegame,sotheyhaveabetterideaofwhatthegoodsare.
