institution on behalf of the University of Lincoln.

What does student fee status mean?

Students are classified as either Home, EU, Channel Islands or Overseas for Tuition
Fees and Student Financial Support Purposes. In general, Home, EU and Channel Island
students are subject to the same rate of tuition fees. For the majority of programmes a
higher fee rate is charged to Overseas students.

Your student status and therefore the level of tuition fee you are required to pay is
determined by your nationality and the country where you are ordinarily resident.

To qualify for Home/EU student status, the main eligibility criteria are to either have:

UK/EU citizenship/nationality and have been domiciled in the UK for 3 years prior
to the first day of the first year of your academic course. (The main reason for
residing in the UK must not have been for the purpose of full time education) or;

Been granted refugee status by the Government or:

Been granted indefinite leave to remain, discretionary leave to remain or

humanitarian protection by the UK Home Office and been domiciled in the UK and
Islands since having been granted that status or;

UK/EU citizenship/nationality and have been domiciled in the European Economic

Area (EEA) for 3 years prior to the first day of the first year of your academic course
(the main reason for residing in the EEA must not have been for the purpose of full-
time education).

This list is not exhaustive and a detailed schedule of the categories into which students can
be classed as Home or EU status, including students who have been temporarily absent
from an area of residence, can be found at the following web address.

http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/information--Advice/Fees-and-Money/England-fee-status

An initial decision on your student fee status will be made based on information you provide
as part of your application regarding your nationality and domicile. If we are unable to make
a decision on your status, or if you are classed as Overseas but believe this to be incorrect,
you will be asked to complete a fee assessment questionnaire as part of the admissions
process.

Payment of Tuition Fees

Who pays my tuition fees?

You are liable for payment of your tuition fees unless you are able to evidence a sponsor will
pay them for you. In all cases tuition fees, whether sponsored or self-funded, must be paid
in full prior to enrolling for the next academic year and/or graduation.

Most Home/EU undergraduate students are eligible for UK government funding to pay their
tuition fees via a tuition fee loan, which you can take out each year via application to the
Student Loans Company. The loan amount requested can be amended up to 9 months
following the start of your academic year. You will only pay back the loan after you graduate
and only when you are earning in excess of 21,000. If you are a part-time student you must
be attending at an intensity of at least 25% of the full time equivalent. For further
information please visit https://www.gov.uk/student-finance

Other sponsors:

Your sponsor must be a commercial body (not a private individual such as a friend or
relative). Sponsors cannot pay by instalments and you must provide a copy of your sponsor
letter upon enrolment. The sponsor letter should be on letter headed paper and signed by
your line manager/Director, addressed to the University of Lincoln and include your name,
the academic year you are being sponsored for, your programme title, and the amount or
percentage of your tuition fee being sponsored. If your sponsor requires a purchase order or
other reference number quoting on their invoice, this should also be indicated on the letter.

Where a sponsors payment is outstanding for more than 30 days, the University shall have
direct recourse to the student, who shall be automatically liable for any outstanding sum.

Can I take out a Loan to cover my tuition fees?

As stated above, most Home/EU undergraduate students will be eligible to apply for a
tuition fee loan via application to the Student Loans Company.

Other students may be able to take out a bank loan or career development loan to cover
tuition fees. You should discuss your eligibility for this option directly with your bank.

I am self-funding my tuition fees what are my payment options?

Online:

If you are self-funding all or part of your tuition fees the Universitys preferred payment
method is online prior to enrolment. Using our partner system, WPM, you will be able to

payment to the University. Additionally as an EU or Overseas student you will be able to
arrange a bank transfer in your home currency taking advantage of the lowest exchanges
rates we could find. If you do find cheaper rates, flywire will match your quote and give you
an Amazon gift voucher (flywire price guarantee). Simply enter the GBP value that you have
been asked to pay and the system will convert this to your home currency.

Although most currencies are available, where payment in your home currency is not
available or desired, flywire can also be used to process bank transfers in GBP Sterling;
simply choose the GBP option from the list of available payment options.

letters* will be accepted providing that the correct letter structure is adhered to.
Stage 2 - 50% of the fees to be paid ON or BEFORE enrolment.
Stage 3 - the remaining balance to be paid in full or via a maximum of 9 consecutive monthly
instalments.

Example of how to calculate your payment;

If your tuition fee due is 13,648 you will be required to pay 6,824 in order to enrol (Stage 2). If you
have paid a 2000 deposit (Stage 1) a payment of 4,824 will be required for Stage 2 and a payment
of 6,824 will be required for Stage 3. Please note tuition fees due is the total amount of fees
payable after any applicable scholarships have been deducted.

Whether you are a Home, E.U, E.E.A or Overseas student you must pay in full or set-up a payment
plan for any outstanding balance within 21 days of your enrolment. If this is not actioned then your
