SYLLABUS IN POLITICAL SCIENCE 19A: ADMINISTRATIVE LAW OF THE PHILIPPINES

Description The course deals with the study of the theories, practices and cases on Philippine Administrative Law. Emphasis is given
to the salient provisions of the Philippine Administrative code including the benchmark/landmark cases and other relevant
jurisprudence. The students will also encounter the various administrative bodies and their functions. It also supplies the
students with the history and evolution of the Philippine Administrative law. It gives the students opportunity to analyze
and scrutinize how decisions of the government are made on important issues and how these decisions are carried out.

CLO1 Develop a verifiable body of knowledge about Philippine Administrative law together with its
practices as illustrated in several jurisprudence decided ;
CLO2 Train students to become good and responsive citizens by orienting them with the legal provisions that
regulate and determine the competence and fitness of government officials and personnel, with the
view of preparing them as efficient and effective public administrators in the future.
CLO3 Achieve higher critical and analytical skills that will aid students in scrutinizing efficiency and
effectiveness of implementing and enforcing the administrative law.
CLO4 Expose the students to the actual operation of government specifically as to how decisions are
administered and carried out for ultimate goal of public welfare.

III. COURSE REQUIREMENTS
As evidence that the above course learning objectives are achieved, the student has to do and/ or submit the following:

1. Group Report- each group must be able to research and report in class a certain topic assigned to them.
2. Case Digests- each student must be able to submit digested American jurisprudence based on assigned cases.
3. Oral Exercises- this includes debate and other activities which require public speaking. A student must participate in any of the said activities.
4. Interview with a public officer-each student is required to interview a public officer whether local or national and make a comment on whether the latter
was able to observed the guidelines set by law or not.
Major Examinations

The student should be able to take and pass the Preliminary, Midterm, Prefinal and Final Examinations.

IV. GRADING SYSTEM

Grade per period= ( 50% of the Major Exam grade) + ( 30% of Quizzes) + (20% of Assignment/Projects)
= (0.5x ME) + (0.3xQ)+ (0.2x A/P)

Prelim Grade= Grade computed for the Prelim period


Midterm Grade= ( 1/3 of Prelim grade) + (2/3 of the computed grade for the Midterm period)
Final Grade= (1/3 of Midterm grade)+ (2/3 of the computed grade for the Prefinal +Final period)
