Student 1: the tools would be in a radial menu, similar to existing
modern digital art software, icons would be clicked to select the
4) given option.
How Student 2: a radial menu would hold the tools, it would open around
the point which is touched on the board, the menu would have a
number of tools which would expand into their sub-selections when
hovered over, e.g hovering over the pen tool would make other sub
selections appear next to it such as pen colour and size.
would the previously mentioned tools work?
4a) can student A erase student Bs work?
4b) How would the virtual pens/pencils interact with each

How piece of work.
Student 2: students shouldnt be allowed to erase or draw over each
others work/ sections of the board could be assigned to a student for
them to draw on and it could lock if a another student attempts to

2) Should students have (Tools suggested by students in previous
interviews) and why?
Teacher 1: the basic tools yes, but they wont need text tools since
they could just write what they need with the pens and they wont
have access to a keyboard anyway.
Teacher 2: aside from the text tool, all the other tools are pretty
much basic drawing tools which would be enough for any childs art
project.

1) What does this menu signify?
1a) what does the left side do?
1b) what does the right side do?

selecting colours.

Student 2: opening the menu is simple and easy.

revealing the menu simple and intuitive?

3) Is the interaction with the menu simple and intuitive?

Student 1: yes the interaction is simple and the menu is easy to use
and understand.
Student 2: interacting with the menu is easy but when using it
without a pen, it would be better if instead of having to keep
touching the board to keep the menu open, it would toggle open
instead and let you tap on your selection instead of dragging your
hand over to it.
4) What would you edit or add to the interaction between the
student and the menu?
Student 1: nothing, for what it is, the menu is fine.
Student 2: make it more obvious that the left side of the menu is for
pen size, maybe make the thinner part of the icon much thinner and
the thicker one much thicker. To the right side, split it into two and
use to top half for recently used colours and the bottom half could be
the free colour selection since it might be hard to reselect the exact
same colour.

Teacher:
1) What does button (button X) mean to you? this question is
multiple questions, use the template for every single button, top
to
Teacher 1:
Main teacher page: save icon, save video icon, undo, redo, clear
screen, pen tool, rubber, share screen.
Video editing page: Save, undo, redo, delete video.
Bottom video bar: play, left side flag is start point, middle flag is
current point in the video, right side flag is end point in the video, the
varying black bar is to show the points when work is being done in
the video.
Teacher 2:
Main teacher page: Save, save video, undo, redo, clear image, pen,
rubber, new page.
Video editing page: save, undo, redo, delete video
bottom video bar: play, left side flag is start point, middle flag is
current point in the video, right side flag is end point in the video, the
bottomvarying black bar is confusing, looks like its showing sound.

2) What would you change about the buttons and their interactions?

Teacher 1: change the cross on the video editing page to make it

more obvious that is for leaving the page, maybe move it to the top
of the bar or to a different part of the screen. The video edit button,
maybe change the icon by adding a cog to it to show that work is
being done?
Teacher 2: change the share screen button by adding an arrow in-
between the two screens to show that something is moving between
them. Change the video bar to something more traditional. Change
the cross in the video edit page, move it somewhere else or make it
3) Without your improvements; would you be able to pick up the
software and use it without any training?

4) Teacher 1: yes after having a play with it to get used to the buttons.
With Teacher 2: yes but some of the buttons would be confusing at first,
like the exit video editing screen one.
Teacher 1: yes, but like with the last question, I would need to mess
around with it to get used to the software.
Teacher 2: yes.
