Racial discrimination

There are many kinds of suffering in the world, we cannot solve them all, but we can

solve problems like racism. If I were in the blue-eyed section of the Jane Elliot racism video I

would feel really sad because I would have understood the reality that many brown-eyed

people live, and I would realize that my sufferings are nothing compared to the sufferings of a

person who is discriminated every day by having a different skin color. It is really sad to see

how day by day many people have to live in a country where at all times and everywhere they

are discriminated against because they are black, Latino or Asian. On the other hand, I would

have been angry with myself, because for a long time I mistreat other human beings who are

equal to me only by false prejudices that society has imposed on us since children. Children

do not know what discrimination is, but it is their parents and the society around them who

teach hatred and scorn to people who physically look different. Furthermore, I would have

apologized to all my brown-eyed classmates, so perhaps I would have cried a lot because after

the exercise I understood that no one is less for of their skin color. Maybe just asking for an

apology would not be enough, the real change would be in changing attitude and thinking

definitely. In conclusion, after this exercise I have been able to recognize that people around

me maybe they are suffering to more serious problems than my problems, and for this reason

it is very important to be kind to everyone and accept each person with their differences,

virtues, and defects; because although all human beings have great physical differences, we

all have the need to live together in society, and to make coexistence more enjoyable it is

necessary to eliminate many prejudices of our mind.
