JOHN ADAMS MIDDLE SCHOOL

March 23, 2017

To Whom it May Concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter recommending Ms. Hannah Hasz for a teaching position in your district.
Hannah is currently a student teacher in an eighth grade classroom at John Adams Middle School. The courses
Hannah teaches are Linear Algebra and Advanced Algebra Honors. As an instructional coach, I have had the
opportunity to work with Hannah throughout this school year.

Hannah has high expectations for student learning. In a recent class that I observed Hannah had students
reviewing for an assessment. In my observation, it was evident that Hannah has built a positive rapport with
students. They are aware of the expectations and rise to meet them. During the activity Hannah moved around
the room supporting, probing, and encouraging students as they worked. During the activity Hannah kept a
timer on the board so students knew the amount of time they had to work on each question. Hannah reminded
students of approaching transitions by saying things like, In 2 minutes we will switch. While students were
transitioning she would reiterate expectations. Hannah demonstrated the ability to create an organized and
rigorous activity for the students that she was able to implement successfully.

In addition to her teaching, Hannah has participated in the 8th grade math PLC. During this time she has
worked side by side with the other math teachers creating assessments, reviewing data, and planning activities.
She has proven to be a positive asset to the team through her contributions of ideas and her positive attitude.
During PLC the team had the opportunity to participate in a book study on Mathematical Mindsets by Jo
Boaler. Hannah was an active participant in this opportunity by contributing to the conversation and reflecting
on current teaching practices.

Based on Ms. Hasz positive contribution to her colleagues, the rapport that she has built with her students, and
her ability to plan and organize lessons I believe she would be an asset to any school. I recommend Ms. Hasz
be considered for any position in which she applies.

Please contact me with any questions that you have.
